DJ Bongo – Crowd-Reading DJ, Percussionist & Party Starter I'm Gareth Wax, aka DJ Bongo, a crowd-reading DJ, percussionist and MC with one simple aim: make your night go off with a bang. Every crowd is different, so every DJ Bongo set is different. Rather than arriving with a rigid playlist and working through it regardless, I read the room, react to the people in front of me and build the music around the energy of the night. That can mean starting with the vintage swagger of Jazz, Rock, Electro Swing, slipping into Funk, Soul, Ska, Chicago House and Funky House, then, when the room is ready, turning up the pressure with Trance, Electro, Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Hardstyle. The result is a musical journey rather than just a collection of tracks. And you'll probably spot me before you hear me. The **hat, bowtie and spats** are all part of DJ Bongo. I believe a DJ should add something visually to an event as well as musically, bringing personality, theatre and a bit of eccentricity to the room. I've performed at pubs, clubs, festivals, fringe events, steampunk events and private parties, including Shaftesbury Fringe Festival, Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival and The Surrey Steampunk Convivial, alongside venues across London and the UK. I've also spent 3 seasons playing in Ibiza, including Bar Mambo, Kanya and Es Paradis, and have played venues including Pacha and Café de Paris and Sin. Whether you need someone to warm up the room, follow a live band, keep a party moving or close the night with a bang, I shape the set around your audience. No two crowds are the same.
