About Ben

The Cacti Collective are a group of musicians creating a dynamic and exhilarating journey into sound.
Drummer
Manchester
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Studying for 4 years at BIMM in Fulham - South West London. The place Ben has created for himself has been hard fort, in an industry bustling with so much incredible talent. Ben got his first break playing with Electronic artist Bearcubs at Glastonbury in 2015 and has since then has gone onto work with an impressive roster of Artists. Ben had this to say "yeah the Bearcubs gig was the perfect first step into the industry for me to be honest, me and jack were basically doing our first proper festival gigs together so that was a lot to learn but incredibly fun because we get along so well. And I think the music I grew up with put me in a perfect position for playing his music you know, I grew up listening to bands but as I got older I gravitated to club music as my friends Adam and George are a Production/DJ duo called Bondax so we would be at there gigs every weekend. So I understand how clubs and dance floors work I guess." Since this taste of the big stage in 2015 Ben has set his sights on making this his life. MD'ing (music director) for Elle Watson. Going on a European tour with University Friends Jadu Heart. And following this up with another tour Supporting "Foster The People" round the European leg of there world tour with Shy luv. Sat hear talking to Ben I'm struck by his modesty for someone who has done so much in a short space of time he has no air of arrogance I ask him what it takes to make it on to big stages. "to be totally honest, iv been very lucky. It wasn't all luck I guess, I worked hard to get hear but some how I ended up with incredibly talented friends and my skill set just fits in. With regards to big stages it takes a certain amount of self confidence. but that comes with time and im still on that path for sure." Following these tours and finishing uni Ben relocated to Manchester and has been in the studio further honing his skills recording with School friends Bondax for there forth coming debut album. And also working with band mates Shy luv in there new studio in Northern Quarter. "Yeah the studio is incredible, so me and the shy luv boys share a studio which is great but also ours friends Bondax (Adam and George) and Fono (Luke) are in the same studio so its a real creative melting pot and im defiantly learning a lot from all those guys. I'm very excited for whats coming up as im getting into the recording side of things which is cool and forces you to think about the sound of your drums instead of just the groove or genre, also the Bearcubs tour and of course festival season is fast approaching (comedic gulp)."

“The Cacti collective are one of the best bands to grace my stage in the last 5 years. Fact. Cath, as with most great, 'small' singers has a power that belies her size and blows your socks of when you first hear her, combined with a control and vocal range that are truly impressive and a joy to listen to. Her effortlessly cool voice sits perfectly balanced on top of Ben and Joe's backing, and what a sound they make. In 20 odd years in the music industry, I've rarely seen 2 people connect more on stage and be so creative with their instrumentation and arrangements. They make stripped back drums and acoustic guitar feel like you're listening to a 5 piece band, through some of the smoothest, funkiest, most head bobbing-est playing I've seen in a long time. Hugely engaging to watch on stage, they put a smile on every face in the audience without fail. I could watch 'em all night.”

We booked The Cacti Collective at our bar Amore and Mojito’s 88 in Frodsham and they were excellent! They worked the audience perfectly and by the end of the night the whole bar was dancing and singing along! A very talented group and a lovely bunch to boot. Will definitely be booking them again soon.
