About The Cesarz Tabor Guitar and Violin Duo

Bristol and the South West's best Violin and Guitar Duo!
Classical duo
Bristol
Public liability insurance of £5 million

The Cesarz-Tabor Guitar and Violin Duo play classical recitals, weddings and parties, in a wide variety of styles. Both are highly trained classical musicians, studying in Manchester and London respectively, but have expanded their repertoire to include some fiery Tangos, melancholic Eastern European folk, and danceable pop tunes. Dominic Cesarz is a performing guitarist, teacher and collaborator currently living in Bristol, UK. After studying Music at Kingston University, Dominic began teaching professionally in Greater London. Later, while performing regularly, he also undertook a master’s degree specialising in Guitar Performance at Royal Holloway, University of London. Already a skilled performer in multiple traditional genres, he was recently awarded a Diploma (ABRSM) for a challenging programme of late 20th-century music including works by Leo Brouwer and Toru Takemitsu. Dominic has taught internationally, including a year in Mexico City, while continuing to perform as a solo musician and with small ensembles. Dominic is also a keen electric guitarist and studies music from around the world including makam and hindustani classical music. Oscar Tabor is a Violinist, Pianist and teacher, performing in the UK and abroad. Having completely his undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, he moved about frequently, settling in Berlin for several years and developing an acute interest in Tango, Klezmer and Gypsy Jazz. Whilst regularly giving classical recitals, Oscar also runs a Jazz band and has played in numerous, wildly varied outfits, gigging and recording for some very successful artists. Now living full time in Bristol and putting down roots after many years of travelling and collecting musical experience and knowledge, Oscar is a full time gigging musician. Dominic and Oscar met early in the summer of 2023, and immediately found that they both wanted to dedicate considerable time and energy to playing and performing together. Their mutual love of classical, Jazz and different folk and world musics made them compatible, along with a shared passion for bringing these genres to new audiences, with fresh and exciting flavours. Dominic and Oscars shared repertoire is constantly expanding and evolving, featuring Vivaldi, Piazzolla, Django Reinhardt, Paganini and many others. Both members of the Duo have years of experience playing at weddings, birthday parties and corporate events, and both have also done numerous bits of work performing and recording with established and popular artists.

The Cesarz Tabor Duo played while I walked down the aisle and it was so beautiful!! During the ceremony they played classical music and a piece we had chosen, then played some lovely jazz on the lawn while everyone had drinks. It really made our day!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We are often complimented on our professionalism, our technical proficiency, our adaptability, our willingness to learn new repertoire and our friendliness!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

As a duo Multiple wedding venues and private homes for parties. Individually (not as a duo) Bristol Cathedral Manchester Cathedral Bridgwater hall (Manchester) Royal Albert Hall (London) Wells Cathedral

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We love a very wide range of artists! In terms of who has influenced us most, it is probably the teachers we have had over the years!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Together, we have so far played private weddings and parties. Separately, we have played numerous high profile events. Performing to members of the Royal Family, Performing to Celebrities, for Liverpool FC, at the Weymouth Olympic opening ceremony, among many others!

Do you have different line-up options?

We are both able to perform a wide range of repertoire solo. We also have a Jazz band, that you can find on our other profile, The Misophone Collective.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

On occasion we may have more than one gig in a day, but we do leave many hours between them as a rule, to prevent any mishaps with travel. Generally speaking, we can be fairly flexible!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are very happy to provide a a playlist between our sets, consisting of similar music, or completely different music! If this requires us to stay beyond the length of our sets, this will effect the price accordingly.

How much time do you need to set up?

We require different amounts of set up time depending on whether or not we require amplification. With amplification, an hour should suffice, without, 30 minutes is fine. We always aim to arrive at any venue about an hour prior to an event regardless however, to account for traffic.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can roam around while we perform, we have done in the past, and we are happy to do so. However, most of the genres that we play don't lend themselves to that!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely, you can pick anything you like from our set list, and you are welcome to suggest new repertoire. Most pop songs we do not charge any extra for.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our amplification when it is required, is included in our quote.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We can learn song requests prior to events, and we frequently do. In general, we will not charge extra for a couple of pop songs, however, if it's a particularly challenging piece of classical music, or you'd like us to learn more than a couple of pop/jazz tunes, it will affect the quote.
