What do your clients love most about your performances?
Our caller particularly gets complimented for his energetic, fun and sympathetic calling style. The high energy, lively tunes and full sound delivered by the band is also highlighted. This makes us stand out compared with other ceilidh bands within the Devon and Cornwall areas
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
Little Orchard Cider Festival - Cornwall Lowender Peran Festival - Cornwall Cwlwm Celtaidd Festival - Wales Pan Celtic Festival - Ireland Looe Music Festival - Cornwall Headland Hotel - Newquay Cornwall Polhawn Fort - Cornwall
Can you perform covers?
We do not provide covers due to the nature of the ceilidh experience
Do you have different line-up options?
Our core line up is accordion and guitar. Both instruments are professionally fitted with bass and midi technologies providing a large, full and high energy sound. We have a fiddler as a 3rd musician and can add a 4th Bodhran player for the full Brim big band experience.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
We provide a background playlist over our PA system prior to the event and during the break to maintain an atmosphere for the guests. We can leave our sound equipment set up after the ceilidh finishes if you would like to use it to play your own music in a DJ style. This is an additional £100 per hour.
How much time do you need to set up?
We usually request an hour to load in, setup and sound check prior to the event. It is possible to set up in half this time if needed but to maximise the quality of the performance, we usually request an hour to allow us time to do this properly.
Do you provide a caller?
‘The Brim’ comes with its very own highly experienced caller (Julian Whiting) who is able to teach and lead people through the dances whatever your age or ability. We ask that you ensure your dancing area is adequate to facilitate ceilidh dancing taking into consideration the number of guests. Please contact us if you wish to discuss this.
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
We are open to requests and happy to work with you to ensure any particular dances or tunes are included in your event.
Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?
Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote. we just need a power supply nearby to plug it all in.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
We are very flexible and happy to learn and call a new dance for your event
