We're based in Staffordshire and have played some fantastic wedding venues, private parties, corporate events and music venues all over the country. If you're planning entertainment for your special event and want an authentic sounding indie/pop band then look no further! We have an incredible repertoire playing hits through the decades from 60s to the modern day. We can provide a DJ service and are also able to offer an acoustic/live-lounge style option if you're looking for something a little more laid back. We started The Brightsides in 2017. Our aim was simple - to cease on a gap in the market and offer an authentic band fusing classic indie with some of the best pop hits from the 60s through to the modern day! We're very proud to say whenever we play at venues around the country, the first thing we get asked is 'Can we book you again lads'?! Our band features the power trio of of Matt Biggs on bass and lead vocals, Harry Draper on guitar and backing vocals and Rich Standley on the drums. We're all experienced professional musicians and although only a three piece band, we kick out an incredible sound thanks to the use of performance tracks which contain backing instrument parts like keys, brass and synths. In basic terms this means you get the sound of a five or six piece band for an extremely affordable price! We have a fantastic professional PA system consisting of bass subs with a digital mixing desk ensuring your special occasion gets a top class sound! We love interacting with the audience during our performances (our guitarist Harry is famed for playing his guitar licks on the dancefloor!) and we offer some fantastic wedding entertainment packages to suit all budgets. We're always happy to discuss your individual requirements so please don't hesitate to contact us. A lot of wedding venues have noise limiters - not a problem to us! Drummer Rich also has a fantastic electric drum kit (looks just like a standard acoustic set) and it means he has completely controllable volume, thanks to the use of a professional quality Roland drum module and cymbal pads. Our equipment is fully PAT tested and we have a public liability insurance too. Booking The Brightsides means WE take care of your musical entertainment - No stress!

The Brightsides were fantastic played to a full house at Derrington Village and Social Club. The band were very well recieved by young and old and anyone in the middle. A fantastic night was had by all with the band, re booked for 2020 but due to the world facing a pandemic it was able to happen, hopefully 2021 will see a return to NYE partying and The Brightsides bringing it into Derrington. Learning Specific Tracks3 musicians

If we feel we can do your first dance justice, we will learn and play it for you. This cost covers the rehearsal time and any pre-recording of parts that can not be played live (such as brass, synth and string instruments).

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We love to please a crowd. The mix of songs, the energy and the jumping in the crowd for a dance all adds to energy of our performance. Our professionalism is second to non. If there is a problem- we can sort it. We will even liaise directly with wedding planners! We are easy to deal with, and confident that we are able to match many like for like quotes.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Pilaton Farm Ashes Barn, Endon Derrington Hall, Stafford. The Liquorist, Chelmsford Swan Live, Stafford and Many more wedding and party venues. We travel far and wide to do what we love!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

It varies from band member to band member. We all love our indie rock! Along with The Brightsides, Matt (vocals) plays in an original Indie Rock outfit, Harry (guitar) plays in a pop rock original band and Rich (drums) has been known to play Ringo in Beatles Tribute bands. To name bands: The. Killers (We are The Brightsides after all!) Oasis The Beatles

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Pillaton Hall Farm. Bonfire Night 2019. 400 people all in a tent, dancing with their children and grandparents alike. Our set really does have something for everyone. However, EVERY show is our most high profile! It is your special night and we are certain we can deliver top class entertainment for you! We love what we do, and it shows every time we perfo

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes. We work with the same line up as much as possible. We do have “dep” musicians who are ready to play at short notice in case of illness or unavailability. We believe we have a solid reputation as a band, and want to show case that. Any other musicians are also professional and perform to a highest standard!

Do you have different line-up options?

Our core set up is: Bass/Lead Vocals, Guitar/Backing Vocals and Drummer. In acoustic options, we can offer a keyboard player for an added fee. This may be available for full band sets too!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If you secure a date, we are then made available. We always aim to be early- so we can get ready to make the night run smoothly. If a time changes, get in touch. We will do everything possible to accommodate this change.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We do. You can set up the playlist and send us a link, use a phone or just let us do the work. Anything you send will be checked against the planned set list for your event, just to make sure you don’t have the same songs playing all night! A band member is always available to add songs into the mix if there are any special requests.

How much time do you need to set up?

Ideally, 90 minutes. If it is possible to not have guests in the room whilst we do this, even better. BUT, we know this isn’t always possible, so we work around you. Once we are set up and sound checked, the music will start, setting the mood for a night to remember.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have played many shows, to many audiences. We will have a conversation about the clientele with you, and will craft our set to best suit that night. We do chop and change set lists quite often, so if you give us plenty of notice for special requests, we will be sure to have them ready for you!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

It certainly is. We provide stage and dance floor lighting, speakers and bass bins in order to get a quality sound for you and your guests. We do require a space of 4m wide by 2.5m deep in order to fit all our equipment safely. Please also let us know about any noise limiters, so we bring the set up for the event.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We may be able to learn a specific song. However, we would not like to not do a special song justice. Just ask, and we will see if we can add it in. Any special requests do require an added fee of £45 pounds, in order to get sufficient rehearsal time.
