Hannah Schneider, first violin
Hannah is a violinist, conductor and postgraduate student in musicology at the University of Oxford. Previously, she studied violin performance at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and worked as a violinist at the Opera de Bauge, France, later earning a BA from Georgetown University.
Helena Kaznowska, second violin
Helena is a postgraduate student at the University of Oxford. Before embarking upon her D.Phil, she earned her BA and MA from the University of York and studied at the University of Bologna. Helena plays on a violin crafted by her father, which he finished in 2016.
Sophie Frankford, viola
Sophie is an ethnomusicologist at the University of Oxford, who previously received lessons at the Royal Academy of Music and earned her bachelors degree in music from King’s College London. As well as being a violist and violinist, Sophie has a particular interest in Egyptian pop music and is also learning Arabic fiddle.
Sam Whitby, cello
Sam has enjoyed playing in a wide range of orchestras and chamber groups during his time at the University of Oxford, performing his debut cello concerto with the Oxford Alternative Orchestra in 2017. Sam has also developed an interest in early music which led him to begin playing the viola da gamba.
