I am 22 years old, and have just graduated from King’s College Cambridge with a 2:1 in Music (Summer 2018). My main instrument is the Clarinet, which I’ve been playing since the age of 8. However, I see myself as a more of a multi-instrumentalist being able to additionally play Saxophone, Flute, Ukulele and Sing Alto. I both held an Instrumental Award with the University of Cambridge, and a Choral Scholarship with King’s Voices for 3 years.
I am the Communications Assistant for Britten Sinfonia, based in Cambridge (from August 2018) and I work there full time. On the side, I would love to continue playing to a high standard as I have been.
I attended the Junior Royal Northern College of Music (Junior RNCM) every Saturday in Manchester from 2013-2015. Being surrounded by like-minded passionate young musicians was a blessing, and made up for the long journey to get there every week! It was an experience that elevated my music making to a level which allowed me to then apply to universities and conservatoires for music. I also played in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain for 4 years, where I have met some friends I know I will have for the rest of my life, as well as creating some great memories along the way!
Before coming to Cambridge, I taught music after school. Entering people into their ABRSM exams and accompanying a few of them was always so rewarding.
With my DipABRSM in Clarinet as of 2016, and Grade 8 Distinctions in Singing and Saxophone, please consider me as a depping option in either an orchestral situation or a jazz band, as well as a choral deputy. In the past I have depped for the Echo 42 Big Band in the Harrogate Area with Saxophone and for the Harrogate Philharmonic Orchestra on Clarinet. On top of this I have stood in at very late notice into orchestral seats and have strong sight reading skills (a CUCO concert in my first year, sight reading and transposing within of King's Chapel with 5 minutes notice being one example!). With my singing, I have depped for Corpus Christi Choir Cambridge, and for Pembroke Choir on their recent tour to Rome (July 2018).
More recently I have been fully involved within the music scene in Cambridge, and have been playing with the following ensembles:
CUWO – Cambridge University Wind Orchestra (including on their recent tour to Montréal and Rome in July 2018)
KCMSSO - King's College Music Society Symphony Orchestra
CUMS SO – Cambridge University Music Society Symphony Orchestra
CUMS CO – Cambridge University Music Society Concert Orchestra
CUSO – Cambridge University Symphony Orchestra
King’s Voices (the mixed male and female choir of King’s College Cambridge)
Pembroke College Choir Cambridge
