The Tallis Consort is a highly-skilled, young, and professional consort predominantly made up of young soloists at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester Cathedral, and the BBC Radio 4 Daily Service Singers. We can provide music for a number of events, weddings, funerals, and church services. Our repertoire is all-encompassing from Renaissance polyphony to light-hearted jazz arrangements of popular songs. The flexibility and versatility of the singers allow us to tackle all music with ease and adapt to each genre appropriately. We're also more than happy to learn requests for your special occasion and we're confident we can accommodate all of your needs and requirements. As an ensemble, we primarily perform as four singers, but we offer various formations meaning we have the versatility to cover your needs for any event. We look forward to hearing from you and welcome any queries.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The intimacy of our ensemble is one of our strengths. We are all soloists in our own right but come together with our individual voices to form a robust, yet flexible sound as an ensemble which allows us to cater our sound to almost anything.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Plenty!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We each have our own idols, and we are able to craft our own unique sound through our own inspiration, rather than wanting to sound like another ensemble.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Broadcasting live on Radio 4.

Do you have different line-up options?

We can provide a mixture of singers tailored to your individual needs. Also, if you'd like us to sing with accompaniment (for a church service, for example, we can work with an accompanist linked to the church, or provide our own.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Not a problem, we can alter this as required to suit your needs.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

No.

How much time do you need to set up?

30 minutes.

Can you roam around while you perform?

We can.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Yes.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

We're happy to learn just about anything, providing we have reasonable notice beforehand.

A beautiful programme of music superbly sung by the Tallis Consort Quintet at the Chantry Chapel in Wakefield. The theme of the Tenebrae Responsories for the Easter Triduum was woven into the theme of Holy week in an interesting and captivating way. Such lovely music was enhanced by the very high quality of the singing which brought out such contrasts exemplified by the deep anguish of Victoria’s ‘O Vos Omnes’ compared with the rejoicing of Lobo’s ‘Regina Caeli’. A wonderful evening in a super setting.

I have had the pleasure of hearing this truly top-class group of singers on a number of occasions, and would have no hesitation in recommending them for any event. Their performances of early music are particularly outstanding, but they are able to adapt effectively to any style. They are instinctively sensitive and musical, but also create an exciting and thrilling performance. Each individual is an excellent soloist in their own right, and when they come together as an ensemble, they feed off each other to create something really quite special. A fantastic group.
