Verified profile
Sophisticated yet upbeat trio with a passion for swinging jazz and lilting bossa nova.

We have a passion for swinging jazz and lilting bossa nova. Our music is sophisticated yet fun and engaging. We have honed our sound over years of performing together and have a very easy gelled sound, creating a happy and relaxed atmosphere. We play music from our extensive repertoire of classic jazz and bossa nova, music made famous by the likes of Ella Fizgerald, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole with songs such as Fly Me To The Moon and The Girl From Ipaneama.

Customer questions

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes we play regularly with many accomplished musicians, just ask us about quoting for adding a musician (or musicians) playing any of the following instruments - double bass, percussion, drums, saxophone, flute, trumpet, violin.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Then we play it by ear on the day and choose tunes that seem appropriate in response to the individual setting of each event as it happens.

Yes! - We have a small set up, just one amp. Plus we have battery options as well for outdoor settings.

We hired Swing it Ela for our wedding, and couldn’t have been happier. Their music set the perfect tone - sophisticated yet upbeat. They are incredibly talented, and have a great repertoire of songs. In particular, the Brazilian side of our family was impressed by their bossa nova music. Ela was professional, responsive and friendly throughout - a real joy to deal with. Thank you for making our day so magical!

Ela and her trio played in the afternoon at our wedding reception, and they were absolutely perfect! We were lucky enough to have lovely weather and they played in the garden as people got drinks, cake and then canapés. They were super organised and we didn’t have to worry about anything. They brought everything they needed, set up quietly with no hassle and were ready to charm our guests with their gentle, melodic, feel good Jazz once our ceremony finished. We loved the wonderfully relaxing atmosphere they created, not ‘attention grabbing’ at all. We all enjoyed catching up with old friends and family, eating and drinking and toe tapping to the beat. Ela’s voice is so sweet, and they are all such accomplished Jazz musicians - we couldn’t recommend them more!

Ela Southgate and her trio have performed twice in the last 9 months at Danny House, an Elizabethan mansion in Sussex. They are so talented and entertaining that we keep wanting to invite them back again. Ela has a soft and hauntingly beautiful voice and she is supported by her talented and amiable guitarist and trombonist. The combination is nostalgic and unforgettable. Please come back soon Ela!
