Experienced 9-13 piece Swing / Big Band with a varied repertoire and a great reputation. Our skilled team of musicians playing saxes, trumpets, trombone, bass, keyboard and drums, knock out a great mix of music. We can cater for a themed 1940s / Swing event through to a mixed programme that appeals to all ages and gets everyone up dancing. We've played for weddings, parties, dinner dances, balls and Ladies Nights, at hotels and other wedding / party venues, sailing clubs, golf clubs, village halls and masonic lodges. We have also performed concerts both and outdoors and indoors at music festivals, bandstands, nature reserves, theatres and churches. We can flex the band size to suit your venue, from 9 piece to full 13 piece big band and are available with / without vocalist. Our approach is professional, friendly and adaptable. We can tailor the musical programme to suit you and your guests, and we are always flexible at the event so as to fit around your plans. As we're not a fully amplified group, clients like the fact that the volume level is lower than a disco or rock band which allows their guests to chat as well as dance when we're playing. We love performing our music and believe that our enthusiasm is infectious. We look forward to creating a fun event with you in Essex or Suffolk.

If you’re looking to hire a band for a special occasion, look no further than The Sweeting Swing Band. I had occasion to hire them for my husband’s birthday party recently and they were everything we wanted - and more. I only had cause to request two particular pieces but they would happily have played what I wanted all evening. The band have an extensive repertoire which means you can dance to the music of Glenn Miller and right through to the modern era. The band are well rehearsed and this is evident in their polished delivery. They look good and they sound amazing. You would also not regret requesting Molly, their vocalist. She’s an absolute treat and takes things to another level. They are very easy to communicate with and priced fairly - when you are paying musicians of their calibre you cannot expect to pay less than they ask for. Hours and hours of practice and sheer dedication have gone into each and everyone’s lives to ensure they have become the talented musicians they are today. What are you waiting for? Book them now - you will be so glad you did!!!

We booked the Sweeting Swing Band to play at our wedding at Hintlesham Hall in November 2024. The band made everything so easy in the run up, discussing our musical likes and dislikes, band arrangement options including a singer and then supplied a playlist for our review. They visited the venue to ensure that their set up would compliment our evening arrangements which included a DJ and starlight dancefloor. The way they set up on the day did not encroach on our wedding celebrations at all, we were so impressed how they managed to pull that off so quietly. The band played our first dance which was amazing and then kept everyone dancing throughout their 3 sets. Every single one of our guests were blown away with the quality of the band, we have lost count of the number of times we have heard ‘we were not expecting anything like that’, ‘the band made the evening’, ‘the band were incredible’, ‘loved every second of the band’. We would not hesitate in recommending The Sweeting Swing Band for any event they are amazing and enhance our wedding memories for sure.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, typically 9 piece - 3 saxes, 3 brass, drums, bass and keyboard. Available with or without vocalist. Also full big band option with 5 saxes, 5 brass, drums, bass and keyboard. Available with or without vocalist. 7 piece Dixieland band line-up available for shorter gigs (max 1.5 hours). No vocalist.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We will always try to be flexible with timings, to help ensure your event runs smoothly. If timings change slightly in the run up to your event, just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we can put on music in our breaks at no extra charge.

How much time do you need to set up?

We will need about an hour to set up.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We have set lists crafted from our experience of what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're happy to chat through and incorporate your requests or a theme where we can.
