Sue Ling Chan began learning the violin at the age of 8 and soon after, started performing in front of public audiences 2 years later at 10 years old. Having participated in local music competitions and festivals, Sue Ling has achieved first place in numerous classes - both solo and in ensembles - and has once received a shield prize after gaining the most marks across a range of classes in the string category. In 2013, Sue Ling joined her county youth orchestra, an auditioned orchestra formerly known as the Wiltshire and Swindon Youth Orchestra, now named the West of England Youth Orchestra. Over the 3 years performing with the orchestra, Sue Ling has moved her position up in the string section, eventually being made co-leader of the 2nd violins. Sue Ling's experience in orchestral performance grew and blossomed even more having joined 3 orchestras in 2016 and 2 more in 2017, one of which was a London-based orchestra - the Women of the World Festival Orchestra - where the performance was held at the fine setting of the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre. With regards to her plentiful orchestral experience, Sue Ling has worked with a variety of conductors such as: Timothy Redmond, Rebecca Miller, Jessica Cottis and Susanna Riddell. In her two university orchestras (symphony and chamber), Sue Ling plays violin I and has led numerous rehearsals in the Englefield Green Festival Orchestra. In June 2017, Sue Ling's first encounter with recording music for film arose, performing on solo violin as well as performing with another violin and a flute. The film is due to be premiered in Dublin, Ireland in 2018. Sue Ling continues her musical passion through her studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, a university ranked 5th place for Music for the 2017 year. The violinist has a broad range of performance skills, from solo to orchestral and having recently formed a violin, flute and piano trio as well.
