About Sue's

Singing guitarist
One Girl, One Guitar, Full band sound! Creating drum beats, percussion and vocal harmonies for an acoustic set with a twist.

Sue started of her musical life in a successful 6 piece wedding and events function band called The Shoes, covering most of East Anglia. She spent nearly ten years performing as a singer at all manor of events from weddings, to corporate functions, garden parties and beer festivals at venues such as The Hylands Park festival in Chelmsford and The Athenaum in Bury St Edmunds to name a few. Over time Sue increasingly incorporated her guitar playing into gigs and it was only a matter of time before she formed a duo in addition to the function band, playing and singing together with another singer to create beautiful harmonies. Here she experienced more intimate venues, restaurants, country pubs and also began performing at wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions and birthday parties. In January 2017 Sue moved from Suffolk to Norfolk and is now flying solo, but don't be fooled into thinking this is just a girl and a guitar. She records her own unique backing drums, percussion and vocals for each song to create a truly unique version of some incredibly well known songs. Her experience in the function band makes her the perfect entertainer who knows exactly what crowds want to hear, but her duo acoustic career allows her to tailor the music to suit a quieter event if desired and she can happily create a more chilled vibe if more of a background music feel is what you are after. Versatile, talented and very funny on the mic too, she engages with the crowd and is a fantastic entertainer for any event! She even provides a disco when she's finished so the party doesn't need to stop when the live music does!

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

That's no problem. If the timings change just let me know as soon as you can, it doers happen sometimes, so I always try to be as flexible as I can.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. I always put on background music while I'm setting up, in between sets and straight after I finish, to keep the music flowing. If you would like music after I have finished playing for longer than 15 minutes, I'll need to add an extra charge, so just let me know.

How much time do you need to set up?

Approximately 45 minutes to get in, set up and do a sound check is preferable. Sometimes sound checks are not possible if the event is underway and other activity happening means I have to stay silent, which I understand, but to get the best sound it's always preferable to check a song before getting started :-)

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

I tend to pre write the set lists before each event to make sure the timings fit, but am absolutely happy for you to pick out particular songs you love to make sure i include them.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes I bring the P.A, disco lighting and everything else, I just need a couple of plug sockets close by. I can set up in a space from 2 x 3 metres to give you a guide

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, I can. I will need at least 1 months notice to learn the song and create the drumbeats/harmonies and to perfect it. If you advise me under 1 month, I may be able to learn it, but with other events and songs I may have to learn happening cannot guarantee it. There is also a £15.00 additional fee for this as it involves extra work and rehearsing time

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I get complimented regularly on my voice, the audience participation encouragement and song choices, as being up beat, well known and great singalongs

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed at all manor of venues from Pubs, wedding venues, golf clubs, pubs, churches, marquees etc...

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I have no specific artist I am influenced by, I just know I love anything with a great beat and something that you can't help but get up and dance to. I think that's why my set list ranges from pop through to rock as love all types of music

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have performed at the Chelmsford festival a few years back now, but I have been selected to play at the Royal Norfolk show this year which I am very excited about.

I booked Sue acoustic for a corporate summer BBQ in July 2018. Sue played a fantastic set, cleverly mixing her own harmonies, drum beats and percussion to compliment her on the guitar and vocals and truly changed what I thought would be background entertainment to become a real party. The vast majority of her songs were upbeat, fun and perfectly suited to the evening. She is also very funny and interacted with the crown brilliantly. I would have no hesitation in booking her again for future events, thanks Sue!
