A lively folk / covers / ceilidh band with tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America and England. We are available for performing concerts, barn dances, ceilidhs, corporate events and everything in between, in the venue of your choice, be it a stately home or your back garden! We perform a range of music (both songs and tunes) from a broad repertoire and era from traditional folk to modern classics. We can cater for specific and traditional Irish or Scottish Ceilidhs, although for most Barn Dance / Ceilidhs we keep broad, unless specified. Booking us for your wedding? Here is some more info! Your wedding day is important to you, and it’s important to know that everything is in hand. We have a few different wedding services that we can offer, but we are also flexible – so if you want to combine parts, or mix and match or have a different idea, do talk to us!

We hired the Stomping Boondocks for our wedding last month, and they went above and beyond to make the evening a memorable one! Most of our guests had no idea what was involved in a ceilidh, and were a bit reticent about taking part, but the caller was patient and helpful and soon everyone was having a great time. Several relatives who were planning on leaving early got sucked into the dancing and ended up staying until the end of the evening. Although we had initially agreed on 2 sets with a break in between, the band was good at reading the room, and gave us breaks when we needed it I've no idea how long they played for in the end, but it definitely seemed like longer than planned! Thank you so much for making our wedding awesome!

What an amazing time we had dancing to the Stomping Boondocks. They guys were great from start to finish and made sure the party will be one everyone remembers. Communication from start to finish was excellent and I highly recommend these guys should you want to get your guests up on the floor.

Stomping Boondocks are a talented band who provide great entertainment at an affordable price! All correspondence was well responded to, with the band taking time and effort in carrying out our requests far better than expected. Everyone had an amazing evening with a fantastic mix of Ceilidh and DJ music played - I can't remember a time where someone wasn't up on the dance floor! :D I really couldn't recommend a better band to book for your special day. Customer questions

Can you perform covers?

Yes we normally intersperse our ceilidh performances with covers of classic songs and tunes. This gives everyone the opportunity to have a rest between dancing!

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-up generally consists of five people, a caller, guitarist, fiddle player, drummer and bassist. We can also offer a four-piece version with a cajon rather than a full drum kit.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We're 100% flexible and know how even the best laid plans can come unstuck. As such we're happy to work with you in order to ensure everything runs exactly as you'd like!

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. Our bassist and guitarist offer a professional DJ service, with full PA, following the live music until the end of your evening. This does come at an additional cost and can be discussed when booking.

How much time do you need to set up?

Our set up is normally an hour, this allows us to set up all instruments and ensure the stage is as neat and tidy as possible. As with anything, the more time the better, but at a push we can work within around 45 minutes.

Do you provide a caller?

Yes, our caller Paul is vastly experienced, having been in ceilidh bands since he was a teenager. He is perfect at ensuring everyone is included and can follow the dances, along with the odd joke in order to ensure everyone has a great time!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

By all means. We often amend our sets on the fly, depending on how each song / tune is received. However, if there are specifics you would like, simply let us know and we'll ensure they're included.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA) included in your quote?

All PA (fully PAT tested and covered by our Public Liability Insurance) is included, along with lighting.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Given enough time, and as long as we are confident we can do it justice, we are happy to do this. We will keep you in the loop with videos, mp3s etc, to ensure you're happy with the progress.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We aren't your normal ceilidh band, we bring a modern vibe and energy to our performances. We also ensure everyone has a bit of fun!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We have performed across the entirety of the UK, in pubs, bars, festivals, churches, castles and everything else you can thing of. We have also ventured to France, Italy and Eastern Europe.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We have performed at folk festivals across the country, a number of St Patrick's Day events for Guinness, an Awards Ceremony for the National Trust and many other events.
