I’m Steve Christie, professionally known as Stevie Bagpipes, an award-winning Highland bagpiper with over 40 years’ experience performing at weddings, ceremonies and prestigious events across the UK. Originally from Edinburgh and now based in the North East of England, I began playing the Great Highland Bagpipe at the age of twelve and went on to compete at a high level as both a solo piper and band member. I am proud to have been recognised as a North of England Wedding Awards Winner in both 2023 and 2024, and currently hold the title of Live Wedding Musician of the Year at the North of England Wedding Awards. I had the honour of performing as the Lone Piper at Bamburgh Castle during Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. I have also performed at significant commemorative events, including in Alnwick in the presence of His Grace the Duke of Northumberland. I regularly perform at many of the region’s most prestigious venues, including Bamburgh Castle, Ellingham Hall, Doxford Hall, Langley Castle and venues across Northumberland, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Scottish Borders. I specialise in creating unforgettable moments at weddings, from piping guests on arrival to leading the bride down the aisle, performing during the ceremony and celebrating the newly married couple. I can also incorporate traditional elements such as the Gaelic piper’s blessing, adding a unique and meaningful touch to your day. My performances combine traditional Highland music with a professional, polished presentation tailored to suit both formal and relaxed occasions, ensuring every event is delivered to the highest standard.
