Cornwall based ‘Splann’ is a ceilidh barn dance band that delves into some of the best Scottish, Irish and Cornish tunes to get your wedding, festival, corporate function or party swinging with style. Splann Ceilidh Band Cornwall play for ceilidhs and barn dances across Cornwall and Devon and beyond. The core of the band is a three piece (consisting of fiddle, accordion and guitar) which is guaranteed to get your event or celebration up and dancing with driving reels and swirling jigs. We can also add drums and bass to the line up to create the Splann ‘Big Band’. As the name suggests, this creates a bigger rockier sound. The choice is yours, just pick the line up that suits your event or size of venue – from small village halls to stages at festivals. Lastly, our caller, Ellie, will be there to talk you through each of the dances before they start, ensuring that whether you are seasoned ceilidh dancing expert or this is your first time at a barn dance you’ll feel confident on the night. Whether your event is in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset or Dorset, Splann will give it a real Celtic flavour. We’re a group of experienced musicians who have been actively involved in the Cornish and south west folk scene for longer than we care to remember.

We booked Splann fairly last minute for our wedding reception as we had two previous bands cancel on us. Matt was very helpful emailing me. He arranged a phone call meeting two weeks before our party to confirm timings and special requests we may have had. We had less guests than expected but the band were great at working a very reluctant audience. We have had many comments form our guests saying how much fun they had.

Thank you so much for a terrific Ceilidh. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Your music was perfect and the calling just right. Clear, concise and not too confusing. You managed a team of uncoordinated, multi-age groups perfectly. Such good fun though. You made our night.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you for making our wedding evening so amazing! Everyone has commented how awesome you guys were! The last dance in particular, ended in drunken carnage, but everyone was smiling and EVERYONE danced! I would highly recommend you to everyone! Thanks again x
