Founded by Rayzl and Max Rosen (of the Max Rosen Trio), Speakeasy Jazz Duo is a North West-based vocal-piano duo met while studying music at The University of Manchester. Regular performers across Manchester’s vibrant live music scene, they have appeared either together or separately at renowned venues including Matt & Phreds, Band on the Wall, The Fitzgerald, The Kings Arms, and MindSlip Records at Habitat Studios. Blending timeless jazz standards, original music, and imaginative jazz-infused interpretations of beloved pop songs, they create performances that are both sophisticated and engaging. With vocals praised as "beautiful, stunning, and creative", alongside "naturally expressive, massively talented" piano playing, the duo can provide anything from elegant background music to a lively, genre-spanning set, bespoke for your event.

They were fantastic and looked amazing too. It was just perfect and a real bonus to be outside. Speakeasy Jazz Duo provided piano and vocal entertainment for a birthday celebration in the garden, which included background piano instrumental upon guests' arrival, as well as an upbeat jazz duo set whilst guests socialised post-lunch.

Speakeasy Jazz Duo performed at The King's Arms in August 2025. Their set was a great mix of jazz, pop, and original music that really highlighted their talent and proficiency as musicians. Razyl's powerful voice, combined with Max's penchant for improvisation on the piano, made for an excellent evening of music. They were also very professional and accommodating of my photography and videography to capture the event.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our training across jazz, pop, and classical genres means we’re able to offer a varied set to high standard, as well as having originals that can easily fit into our performances. Clients have often said they love our jazz arrangements of popular songs, giving their guests enjoyable moments of hearing a much loved song in a new way.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our standard line up is Vocals and Piano. There is also a Vocals and Acoustic Guitar option.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be as flexible as possible to ensure your event runs smoothly. If times change slightly in the run up to the event, just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

This is a really popular request - we're happy to offer a playlist service before and between sets free of charge. Just send us over the link to the playlist and we'll play it via our own devices, meaning you can relax during your event.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours ahead of the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up and we have done our soundcheck, we're happy to offer a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere for your guests. Additionally, if you need us to set up more than 1.5hrs before our performance, please let us know and we will be happy to discuss.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Our standard line-up includes an electric piano, and a microphone, which are both plugged into the PA system.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from our performance experiences and learning what works best for each type of event we've delivered, and we're happy to work with you to ensure the set list at your event strikes the right balance between the atmosphere you're after and the songs you want to hear. We're always happy to chat through the set list ahead of your event!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA system, microphone, and electric piano are included in your quote. If you would like specific lighting, we usually require this to be provided either by the venue or via another third party.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list, there may still be a chance we already know it so feel free to drop us a message to ask. However, if there is a specific song you'd like us to learn we do offer a consult&learn service where we are happy to learn up to 3 new songs for you to take your event to a new level.
