About Sorcha

Sorcha is a Glasgow based acoustic artist, performing a variety of pop, folk, country and R&B covers in her own unique acoustic style.
Singing guitarist
Paisley

Hello! I'm Sorcha, a singer and guitarist from Paisley. I studied music at Douglas Academy Music School and then went on to get a degree in music and Spanish (yes, strange combination) from Glasgow University. Whilst at university I had a weekly slot at Booly Mardys in the West End of Glasgow where I would play for a few hours on a Sunday evening. My acoustic set was incredibly mixed, including songs like 'Fever' by Peggy Lee, some Paolo Nutini, and sometimes 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus (depending on the crowd). More often that not I was background music, so would play some well known songs for people to enjoy while they chatted over a drink. I also have experience performing in a concert style. I have toured around Scotland as a singer-songwriter, headlining venues such as King Tuts and Oran Mor. I have also performed at several corporate events, charity nights and weddings. I enjoy tailoring my set list to the event I am performing at, and am more than happy for you to choose whatever songs you'd like me to perform. In the past I have been asked to learn specific songs for first dances and for brides walking down the aisle. If you would like to know any more, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I look forward to playing for you soon!

Sorcha was absolutely amazing! We couldn’t have wished for better, everyone commented on her lovely voice and loved her take on all the songs she played. She made our day so special, set the mood for the ceremony and started the party at the drinks reception. Can’t hear songbird without tearing up now! Thank you so much. Sarah and Blair

Sorcha May played at our wedding ceremony and drinks reception. She was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and a joy to have around on the day. She has the most beautiful voice and had our guests captivated. She made our day even more special and we cannot rate her highly or thank her enough!

I organised a birthday party for my dad in our local pub and hired Sorcha to come and sing a few songs for us. She was very professional, and sang a real mix of songs for all ages to enjoy. The party was a great success and I'd definitely hire her again.

We booked Sorcha to sing as I walked down the aisle with my dad and she was perfect. She listened to what we wanted and sang our chosen song with emotion. Her voice is soft and romantic setting the tone for the day. She was easy to work with and sang the chorus an extra time as it took longer for the bridesmaids to walk down the aisle than expected - allowing me to walk down to my favourite lyric.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My clients love the range of songs that I sing. I can perform genres such as traditional Scottish music, pop music, r&b and a few jazz numbers.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed in venues such as: King Tut's, Oran Mor, Booly Mardys, The Record Factory, The Lemon Tree, Crossbasket Castle, The Dalriada, House for an Art Lover, Renfrew Town Hall, The O2 (London).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to ensure that your event runs smoothly. If timings change slightly then please give me as much notice as you can so that I can arrange for this.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I don't usually provide any other music other than the set I sing and play on guitar. If you would like me to bring Ipod music, I could look into this for you.

How much time do you need to set up?

I need about 30mins to set up, but always aim to arrive 1 hour before I play.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Of course! Choose as many songs as you like, and if there are any that you'd like me to add in then I'll do my best to sing them too.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I have my own guitar, however I currently hire out a PA system for my gigs, therefore I'd appreciate a bit of notice if a PA is required.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Of course! I try to include as many songs as you'd like me to play. Please remember to give me enough time to learn and prepare it so that it sounds good on the day.
