Sophie and Gerry

Sophie and Gerry have been playing music together for over 5 years in various band formations. They met while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2017 and have loved playing together ever since. As a standard, Sophie and Gerry can provide a full audio setup for all performances with their own microphones, laptop, and PA system, as well as being wireless roaming musicians for performances if required. Sophie is a freelance saxophonist based in London. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus (Hons) in Saxophone Performance in 2019. She takes on regular performances with award-winning function bands, such as 29 Fingers, Das Brass, Blue Lion Band, She Music Global, alongside many solo functions too. In addition to this, she also takes on regular jazz, afrobeat and hip-hop gigs, touring with MC Solomon's band, performing alongside Amadis and the Ambassadors, hosting jam nights with Inverted Worlds, and playing more traditional jazz with the London Jazz Orchestra. Sophie also has experience working with several top comedians, including Mae Martin and Lolly Adefope, when she played in the house band for their gigs at The Moth Club. She has over a decade of professional performing and recording experience, in every genre imaginable - from classical, jungle, afrobeat and pop! Gerry is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator also based in London. He performs regularly as a keyboardist, percussionist and saxophonist across a variety of genres, and is a member of the eclectic jazz-fusion quartet Cardboard Wolf. As a music educator, Gerry currently teaches piano, Brazilian samba drumming, and runs ensembles including outreach and community projects. He is a long-standing member of the Impossibilities collective based in Guildhall, which focuses on creating new music in a collaboration between students from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, young musicians from East London, and guest artists. Gerry studied Music at the University of Birmingham (BMus) and Music Leadership at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (MMus). He has written music for pianist Marcel Worms featured on his album ‘20 Years of New Blues’, performed on German national radio broadcaster NDR. When he’s not making music one way or another, Gerry is also an accomplished esports commentator and personality for the popular first-person-shooter game Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, frequently ’casting’ at a national and regional level for official Ubisoft tournaments such as the Northern Premier League and Challenger League.
