Award winning U.K harpist - With years of experience, Sophie is committed to adding that special touch to your occasion!

Originally hailing from the Shetland Islands, Sophie draws influence from her traditional roots but also harbours a passion for contemporary music, ranging anywhere from Berio to Bowie. Since graduating with a first class honours from the Royal Northern College in 2016, Sophie has enjoyed a vibrant and diverse freelance career. As a soloist, Sophie has had the pleasure to perform all over the country at venues including the Theatre Royal in Nottingham, the Byer’s Theatre in St. Andrew’s and Manchester’s Whitworth Art Gallery. She was also twice featured as a soloist on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune,’ programme and has twice been finalist and runner up in the Future Blend project. Furthermore, Sophie was a finalist in the Royal Northern College of Music’s Gold Medal competition, the highest accolade the college awards for solo performance. As a versatile ensemble player, Sophie has collaborated with a number of different musicians - Some personal highlights have been performing Berio’s folk songs, playing as part of a big band and performing Max Richter’s ‘Vivaldi’s four seasons: recomposed’ with Cosmo Strings. Sophie has a wealth of experience performing at weddings, corporate dinners and birthday celebrations. The harp adds a touch of grace and elegance to any occasion and Sophie will work with you personally to make these moments unforgettable.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know and I'm sure we'll sort something out!

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually like 30 minutes to set up, this gives me time to tune my harp, warm up and deal with any unexpected logistics!

Is the transport of your harp included in your quote?

Yes - I've included all travel costs, including the transport of my harp, in my quotes.

Do you need any equipment provided to play outdoors?

None at all - my instrument is played acoustically so I don't need any equipment. If it is raining then I will need full cover or to perform indoors as my instrument is valuable and could be damaged

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure you and your guests have a great time but yes, I am always happy to tailor my set list to set the exact tone you would like for your event.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. I am always happy to learn two new songs for your event but after this, there is a fee of £20 per song for this service to take into account rehearsal and arranging time.

We asked Sophie to play at my Brother's funeral. She was great to deal with at what was a distressing time and she played sensitively and beautifully, making the event memorable. Thank you.

Sophie has been absolutely amazing from our first meeting with her! She was so helpful when we were planning what music to play at the wedding and nothing was too much trouble! On the day the music was simply stunning!! All of my guests absolutely loved her and it made our day even more magical!!
