A native of the prairies of South Dakota, Sophie Genevieve is an American violinist. Sophie is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she earned her second masters degree in Baroque violin. She was a student of Matthew Truscott. Sophie has performed in various solo capacities, with recent highlights being a performance at the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelle (Brussels, Belgium) and a concerto solo with Laurence Cummings (London.) She has performed in master classes with Rachel Podger, Laurence Cummings, Midori, Chi-chi Nwanoku, Daniel Brüggen, Elizabeth Wallfisch and Chris Wu. Sophie has worked with conductors from such as Jane Glover, Masaki Suzuki, Edward Gardner, Steven Divine and Jonathan Stockhammer. Sophie’s first master degree was also in London, at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in modern violin. In addition to her UK studies, Sophie studied at the Starling-Delay Symposium at the Juilliard School of Music in NYC and l’Académie du Domaine Forget in Québec. Sophie has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras in the USA, including soloing on a Landolif violin, on loan from the National Music Museum. Sophie has appeared on various concert stages, such as the Royal Festival Hall (London), Wigmore Hall (London), St. Martin-in-the-Fields (London), Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium) Holland Performing Arts Center (Omaha), le Salle Françoys-Bernier (Quebec) and the Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.). In the USA, Sophie was concertmaster of Heartland Philharmonic in Omaha. She has appeared live on the radio internationally, including on the BBC (UK) and on KVNO (Omaha). Sophie is an advocate of bringing a high standard of music to her home state of South Dakota. Since 2011, she has worked each summer to bring free recitals to a wide array of venues, including concert halls, churches, food shelters and care homes for the elderly. Sophie is the wife of Welsh cellist, Ryan Lowe.
