Sophie Clarke is a 22 year old Classical Crossover Artist who has just graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich, London. She has now been offered a scholarship to study at The Royal Northern College of Music for a Masters in Classical Singing and Opera. Her credits include performing as the Mezzo-Soprano Soloist in 'Bernstein’s Mass' at The Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, solo singing for BBC One’s 'All Together Now' Series One and acting as Guest Soloist for the World Famous Southport Flower Show which attracts over 50,000 visitors every year. Most recently, Sophie was selected to train at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York for summer 2019 on their prestigious Musical Theatre Intensive. In addition, Sophie made her West End Debut in October 2019 in the one off Charity Performance of Singin In The Rain hosted by Julian Clary. Her musical journey began at age nine when she became the regular guest soloist for The British Heart Foundation in her hometown of Liverpool and the surrounding Northwest areas. Today, eleven years later, Sophie still fulfils that role and over the years has performed for many other charities in some of their most prestigious concerts and events. Some examples include singing a duet of 'Beauty and the Beast" with The voice of Disney Peabo Bryson in a charity event organised by David Gest and performing as Guest Soloist with the Rhos Orpheus Male Voice Choir on several occasions. Sophie performs many of her own solo concerts in various parts of the country accompanied by her Pianist Christopher Jeffery. Since moving to London to study at Trinity Laban locations include various parts of Kent, Essex and London. She also performs at various restaurants, bars, parties and weddings throughout the year. As a musical theatre student, Sophie is also a budding actress and dancer. She was selected to dance for Edeline Lee at London Fashion Week 2018 and was a featured dancer in the music video 'Go All Out' by up and coming artist Salt Ashes. Sophie has acted as compere for a family concert by Cinematic Syncopations Orchestra at Blackheath Halls, London in March 2019 and for several harp recitals in and around the London area. When at home in Liverpool, Sophie can be found busking to raise funds for her training in London and sings a selection of styles such as 70s and 80s classics, easy listening, musical theatre and classical music. Without the generosity of so many people she would not be where she is today and she is extremely grateful. Sophie has many up and coming concerts and events in the near future and is always interested in performing in new places and venues.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

My Professionalism and performance etiquette is always complimented however clients, guests and audiences always comment on my personable approach and interludes between songs. I try to make each performance alive not only with beautiful music but by including my audience in the experience.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed as a Soloist at The Royal Festival Hall, London and recently I was Guest Soloist at the beautiful Victoria Hall, Stoke. I have also performed at The Adelphi Theatre in London's West End in the one off charity performance of Singin' In The Rain. I will be returning to The Adelphi Theatre in November 2020 to perform in The Secret Garden.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I have been very influenced by singers such as Dame Vera Lynn and Kathleen Ferrier in terms of vocal style and repertoire. I am also a huge fan of Karen Carpenter and the BeeGees. Their voices and music still influence so many artists today and their songs have stood the test of time.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I'd have to say my most high profile gig was performing as the Mezzo-Soprano soloist in Bernstein's Mass at the Royal Festival Hall, London. The production was conducted by Marin Alsop with vocal coaching by Mary King and direction by Jude Kelly OBE. Bernstein's children flew from the US to watch the shows in London and the whole experience was so special.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to accommodate my clients and ensure your event runs smoothly. Just let me know about any changes and we can work it out.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Of course! An iPod service is a really popular request and I offer this for free. I can make sure the playlist suits your event and/or theme.

How much time do you need to set up?

I usually set up within 30 minutes including a quick test for sound and levels. If an iPod/Playlist service is requested I can arrive 1 hour before and as soon as my PA is set up I can provide that service to set the atmosphere for your event.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set lists are carefully selected to suit each individual client and their requirements and also to ensure maximum guest satisfaction. However I am very happy to discuss my sets lists and find something perfect for your event.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I do! I use a small PA system with microphone and iPod.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If the song isn't included in my set lists there is still a chance that I know it! If not, I am very happy to learn new material. There is a fee of £10 per song to take into account rehearsal time, purchasing of tracks etc.
