Sophie Burrows

Sophie is a freelance saxophonist based in London. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with a BMus (Hons) in Saxophone Performance in 2019. She takes on regular performances with award-winning function bands, such as 29 Fingers, She's Got Brass, Das Brass, Blue Lion Band, She Music Global, alongside many solo functions too. Sophie also has an accomplished sax and percussion duo, as well as a sax, percussion and vocals trio in addition to her solo work through Encore. In addition to her function work, she also takes on regular jazz, afrobeat, Berber and hip-hop gigs, touring with MC Solomon's band, performing at festivals with Arfoud Brothers and Sisters and Berber Diffusion, hosting jam nights with Inverted Worlds, and playing more traditional jazz with the London Jazz Orchestra. Sophie is also a keen jazz musician, playing Baritone Saxophone and Bass clarinet with the London Jazz Orchestra, (Im)Possibilities and Inverted Worlds. Sophie also enjoys attending jazz and fusion jams in her local area, especially the Orii jam held on Monday nights. She has over a decade of professional performing and recording experience, in every genre imaginable - from classical, jungle, afrobeat and pop! Sophie provides a full audio setup for all performances with her own microphones, laptop and PA system, as well as being a wireless roaming saxophonist for performances if required.
