Sonja Tuomela is a young violinist, currently studying music at the Royal Academy of Music, London, with Professor Sophie Langdon. Sonja is a reliable and experienced performer, and she is used to playing solo as well as in different kinds of ensembles and orchestras. Sonja started her music studies with the Suzuki method at the age of three in Raahe, Finland. After that, she studied music at Raahe Music Institute with Marita Tuhkala and Maarit Karppelin, and at the Helsinki Conservatory with Erkki Palola. Sonja received a Music Institute Level Diploma in Raahe in 2011. She also completed a Finnish C course in music with an excellent grade in Helsinki Conservatory, and graduated from Sibelius upper secondary school in 2015. Sonja is actively looking for opportunities to improve. She has had masterclasses with teachers such as Mi-kyung Lee, Vilmos Szabadi, Dennis Kim, Antti Tikkanen, Tero Latvala, Réka Szilvay, Jari Valo, and Pertti Sutinen. Her chamber music groups have had classes with musicians from ensembles such as Danel Quartet, Kamus Quartet, and Doric Quartet. Sonja has also played in orchestras conducted by Atso Almila, Okko Kamu, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Johannes Gustavsson, and Sir Mark Elder. Sonja has lots of experience as a performer. As well as performing as a soloist with the Raahe Chamber Orchestra, and giving her own recitals in Raahe in 2011, 2012, and 2015, she has performed at different events, parties, weddings, funerals, festivals, church services etc.
