Add a touch of class and pizzazz to your event with the swinging sounds of the Jazz string quartet, Soli Strings! Comprising of Guildhall School of Music & Drama graduates, the group prides itself in performing original arrangements from the Great American Jazz Songbook and beyond, delivered with sensational improvised solos, hip swing feel, and unbounding passion for the music. Hear toe-tapping jazz classics such as Ellington’s ‘It Don’t Mean A Thing if Ain’t Got That Swing’ in a lush string setting, melt your heart away with a dreamy ballad like “What A Difference A Day Makes”, and sip champagne to the sultry sophisticated notes of Antônio Carlos Jobim Bossa Nova’s “A Girl From Ipanema”. Soli Strings are equally at home performing your favourite pop songs, both old and new. Sophisticated and elegant renditions of The Beatles, Blondie, or Billie Eilish, as inspired by the soundtrack of Netflix’s “Bridgerton”. Personalise your ceremony or champagne reception with songs of your choice, songs which mean something special to you and your partner. The young London based quartet have been performing professionally across the UK and Europe for several years in prestigious venues such as The Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scott’s, and Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho. They have performed as both a trio and quartet, as well as alongside larger ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra, the NuCivilisation Orchestra, and Jazz Jamaica, as well as featuring behind singers including ESKA, Brindsley Forde, Noel McCoy, and Jumoké Fashola. Available as a quartet, trio, or duo, Soli Strings will provide the perfect feel good musical accompaniment to your special occasion, whether it be a wedding, private party, or corporate event. A friendly and professional service is guaranteed. Soli Strings will work with you to help make your event be a truly unique one.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients usually comment on the joy they experience when hearing songs that they know and love being played in a string setting, as well as the uniqueness of string players improvising.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho Magazine, Canary Wharf Bally's Corporation Mr. Fogg's Mayfair The Wallace Collection Museum The Pig - near Bath Slaughter and May The Cider Works Venue, Dover Leez Priory, Chelmsford The House of St Barnabas, London Cain Manor, Hampshire Buxted Park Hotel, Uckfield Royal Academy of Music Loveworld TV

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We have been greatly influenced by Vitamin String Quartet's pop arrangements, furthermore after hearing their recordings on Bridgerton. On the jazz side we are huge admirers of Atom String Quartet and Turtle Island Quartet, who interpret jazz classics as well as compose their own music.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We performed a concert at the Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, which was part of short series of concerts, where Atom String Quartet was also playing. We played our own arrangements of jazz standards.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our main line-up is: 2 violins, viola, cello, and this is what most of our arrangements were originally written for. We can however adjust to perform as a trio and/or duo at a reduced fee.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

This should be no problem at all. We just ask that you let us know with some notice.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually allow 30 minutes for acoustic set-up, and 1 hour for PA set-up.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Of course! Please pick the songs you want to help make your day special. Otherwise if you give a general description of the atmosphere you wish to create, we will tailor a set-list for specially you, based of countless other events we have played at.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

We will need 4 armless chairs to sit on whilst we perform, but other than that we will bring everything we need. If the venue requires a PA, we can also provide this at an extra cost. (Usually recommended for parties/events).

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes! We're very keen to add new pieces to our song list. We charge between £15 - £35 for this depending on how long it will take to arrange it, or where we are able to source the sheet music, and we ask for a few weeks notice too. It's a fantastic way to help make you event feel unique to you.
