Sinead D'Abreu-Hayling

British-born Trinidadian soprano Sinead D’Abreu-Hayling is an emerging artist known for her warm presence, polished musicianship, and expressive vocalism. Currently based in Manchester, she is completing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she studies with the support of the Valerie Horner Award. Her voice has been praised for having “a voice that is big when it needs to be, with a secure upper register and focused rather than wide vibrato,” a quality that shapes her performances across opera, concert work, and special events. Sinead’s operatic experience has expanded rapidly in recent years. In 2025 she sang Servilia in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and the Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte with the Croatian Opera Academy, following several scene roles at RNCM including Lucilla in Soler’s Il burbero di buon cuore, Dr. Livesy in Treasure Island, and Mayuri in the world-premiere opera The Prayer of a Peacock. Her involvement in new music extends beyond performance: she has taken part in an R&D collaboration with Opera North toward the creation of a new children’s opera, demonstrating her commitment to storytelling, inclusivity, and innovation within the art form. Earlier in her career, Sinead appeared as a chorus member in WNO’s The Shoemaker, working alongside artists such as Neil Balfour, Marion Newman, and Grammy Award-winner Kenneth Overton. Equally at home on the concert stage, Sinead has built a portfolio of solo engagements. Highlights include performing as a guest artist for Black Creative Trailblazers at Factory International and appearing as the soprano soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria with The Hallé. She has also been featured at the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s Black History Month Conference, reflecting her deep connection to cultural representation in the arts. Ensemble work remains an important point of artistic identity: Sinead has sung with the RNCM Chamber Choir, participated in the Bridgewater Hall performance of Game On, and previously performed with the UWTSD Academy Voices alongside Katherine Jenkins in the Royal Windsor Horse Show for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Outside of formal classical settings, Sinead is an experienced and versatile event singer. She has performed at weddings, birthday celebrations, corporate functions, private events, and community concerts since 2020, tailoring her repertoire to suit a wide variety of atmospheres and client needs. Her range comfortably spans classical favourites, sacred music, musical theatre, popular ballads, and bespoke requests—allowing her to bring elegance and emotional resonance to any occasion.
