London

Sinéad Frost is a London-based bassoonist from Cork, Ireland. After receiving her BMus degree with first class honours from the Cork School of Music, during which she spent a year studying at Hochschüle für Musik und Theater, Leipzig, Sinéad went on to complete her MA degree at the Royal Academy of Music, London. She plays bassoon/contrabassoon regularly in Ireland with the RTÉ Concert and Symphony Orchestras, Irish Chamber Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Wexford Festival Opera and other ensembles of high calibre, and enjoys a busy life as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician in London, with performances at Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall, and with Aurora Orchestra at the newly renovated Queen Elizabeth Hall. As principal bassoon of St. Endellion Music Festival, she has performed alongside singers Mark Padmore, Susan Bullock, Roderick Williams, Sir John Tomlinson and BAFTA winning actor Rory Kinnear. Personal highlights include collaborations with Irish folk groups Altan and De Dannan; singers Bryn Terfel, Ute Lemper; Brendan Gleeson, Evelyn Glennie and conductors Sir Simon Rattle, the late Sir Colin Davis, Martyn Brabbins, John Wilson, Jaime Martin and Rafael Payare. Sinéad can be heard prominently on the soundtrack of the landmark documentary Older Than Ireland. With a particular love for opera and theatre, she has been delighted to work with the Cork Operatic Society, which has seen her perform entire operas from memory to critical acclaim. Sinéad was enjoying the start of CML’s Phantom of the Opera UK/Ireland tour as a member of the orchestra until March 2020…
