Simon Purdy is a musician who does work as a solo violinist for weddings, birthdays and other events. He also works closely with other musicians at the Royal Academy of Music and plays with his pianist and his string quartet and other formations if required. He is a versatile musician who has a wide range of pieces and songs in his repertoire list that can be adapted to occasions accordingly. Simon teaches violin, piano and musicianship as well as conducts youth orchestras and coaches chamber groups - these are privately, as well as at Queen Elizabeth's School and at the North London Conservatoire. He was the resident leader for the London Lawyers Symphony Orchestra, as well as National Youth String Orchestra, and has led orchestras such as the Goldfinch Chamber Orchestra and Brio Symphony Orchestra, in venues such as the Cadogan Hall, Kings Place, National Centre for Early Music in St Margaret's Church - Walmgate - York, St Alfege Church - Greenwich, and the Duke's Hall - London. Other orchestral engagements have included playing in the Royal Orchestral Society, Cavatina Orchestra and Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra; other notable venues include the Royal Albert Hall, Roskilde Cathedral, Trinity College Chapel - Cambridge, St James’s Church - Piccadilly - London, Cirencester Parish Church (Three Choirs Festival), Vendsyssel Festival in Frederikshavn, Royal Festival Hall - London. Simon started music tuition at the age of just 3 at the North London Conservatoire. From age 5 he started the violin with Anna Salmi, and then in 2012 joined the Junior Royal Academy of Music, studying with Antonio Cucchiara. In 2016 he entered into the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Diana Cummings, Joshua Fisher and other acclaimed musicians. He is now a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, 2020, with a First Class Honours degree in violin performance as well as a teaching qualification entitled Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music. He is an up-and-coming violinist and a well-respected teacher within London.
