Double Bassist
Birmingham

From the age of 14 I have been playing music. This started with my passion for Jazz music I started playing in the Jazzlines ensemble when I was 15. The Jazzlines ensemble is an organisation which helps children from the age of 15-18 get into Jazz music. It was set up by the Jazzlines Fellowship which is part of Town Hall Symphony Hall. The tutors include Percy Pursglove, Andrew Bain and Sara Coleman. The student tutors were James Banner, Ric Yarborough and Rebuan James. I have had masterclasses from Nic Smart, Jean Toussaint, Hans Koller, Kit Downes, Chris Montague and Joshua Blackmore. Since leaving the ensemble I have been part of the Jazzlines Trio which has given many gig opportunities like playing rush hour blues in Symphony Hall multiple times. Being part of the Jazzlines Trio has also allowed me to have masterclasses with Gareth Lockrane and Denys Baptiste. I was in the Junior Department of the Birmingham Conservatoire from 2013-2015 where I studied closely with Percy Pursglove, Mike Williams and Lluis Mather. From the 2015 I then entered the senior school from September 2015. I have started studying Double bass with Mark Hodgson, Arnie Somogyi and (Classical) with Thomas Martin. I have hosted the Jam session at The Spotted Dog, started hosting my own Jazz night in Birmingham called Jazz at Cherry Reds and I have vast gig experience across Birmingham doing functions and creative gigs with other students from conservatoire. I have also done some teaching on a Jazz course led by Josh Kemp at Uppingham Hall where I was a student teacher.
