Shannon Luk is a diverse multi-instrumentalist. Recently arrived to London from his hometown in Brisbane, Australia; Shannon has performed regularly on baroque violin, viola da gamba, viola and cello. Beginning his formal studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music under Patricia Pollett and Mei-Lee Stocker. Shannon completed his Graduate Certificate of Music Studies (Performance) on viola da gamba under the tutelage of Dr Michael O'Loghlin of the University of Qld in 2015.
Shannon regularly performed with the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra as principal viola; with Ady ensemble, Musica Antiqua et Collegei, Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Pops Orchestra as well as numerous music festivals and recording albums across Australia.
Continuing his passion for early music and period instruments, Shannon became a founding member of the Brisbane Baroque Players and has since served as president and performed as principal and soloist within this ensemble. He has performed in masterclass for Kenneth Weiss at the Mornington Peninsula Summer Music Festival, Johannes Pramsohler at the Festival de musique du Périgord Noir and in 2015 had the pleasure of being invited to play at the Sydney Baroque Music Festival.
With London as his new home, Shannon looks forward to his continued exploration of early music and enjoys being surrounded by the rich diversity of musical culture which London provides.
