Seton Shoals

Seton Shoals is a collective of professional musicians whose careers span multiple bands, countless gigs, and years of dedicated music practice. Every member brings a deep well of experience, both onstage and in the rehearsal room, creating a group defined by skill, precision, and genuine love for the craft. Fronting the band is a vocalist with a rich musical theatre background, whose expressive storytelling and dynamic stage presence add a distinctive theatrical edge to the band’s sound. Drawing inspiration from jazz, funk, soul, and disco, the band blends groove-driven rhythms with sophisticated musicality. Their performances are built on the joy of nailing a tight and complex sound, delivering sets that are both technically sharp and irresistibly fun. Together, they create a vibrant, high‑energy musical experience that celebrates musicianship, connection, and the thrill of live performance. Dave Hunter is the drummer and musical director for Seton Shoals. He has a classical music and jazz background and has worked as a drummer for approximately 30 years in many different genres. Dave has been writing musical arrangements for the last 20 years. Shonagh Dunbar Hunter is the lead vocalist with Seton Shoals. She trained at Queen Margaret University College in Drama and Theatre Arts. A natural live performer, Shonagh has been on stage from the age of five acting, singing and dancing. She has a long standing passion for soul music and has experience singing in many different styles ranging from musical theatre to soul. What you can expect - We are a five piece band who have been playing together for many years. We love to play lots of different genres from smooth, chilled out soul to classic disco floor fillers. We have extensive sets lists and can do specific requests for your events where possible ! A typical evening with Seton Shoals would include two to three sets of around 45 mins to an hour. There is always a cracking atmosphere and brilliant dance numbers to boogie on down to ! We have performed in 2025 at The EH32 festival, The Archerfield Walled Garden, Edinburgh Fringe, The Longniddry Inn and The Leddie to name a few…
