Sean Ivens

My name is Sean Ivens. I began playing drums in 1998 at the age of 9 after an early diet of listening to some of the great rock drummers who’s bands my Dad used to put on in the car. After my first drum lesson in the attic of my local music shop, I became totally obsessed with the instrument – an obsession that still continues to this day! Over the years my playing has been coloured by countless amazing drummers, some of my biggest influences being José Pasillas II, Abe Cunningham, Travis Barker, Josh Freese and Steve Judd. My main outlet as a drummer is my originals band All Ears Avow, whom I tour regularly with all over the UK. Outside of the band, I am a full-time session player and drum tutor. As a session player, I have been involved in a variety of different projects over the years; from chilled out acoustic studio sessions to full-on live rock gigs. Although my playing has firm roots in the realms of rock/pop, I am confident in a variety of different playing styles such as Funk, Jazz-Fusion, Reggae, Blues and Progressive Rock. As a tutor I have taught at local and national drum schools as well as teaching privately from my own dedicated drum studio. I am a confident performer, and have been performing on stage as a drummer since I was 12 years old. I am very comfortable playing along to click/backing tracks both live and in the studio. I am also a confident backing vocalist should this be something that your project requires.
