Meeting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama; DJ RC Alice and saxophonist Alex Shaw have shared a love for filling the dancefloor for over 4 years. Having played events that have ranged from Mayfair Clubs such as Park Chinois to Stadiums such as the Etihad in Manchester; the duo decided in 2021 it was time to collaborate and form a tight, fun, yet funky project that could bring their sounds to weddings, clubs and private events across the UK and Europe. Taking pride in music being a community experience, Sax & The City work closely with their clients to tailor playlists that are event specific, ensuring the atmosphere is perfect for everyone involved, all the time. All equipment from their top quality Bose PA system and microphones to public liability insurance is provided within any quoted price. All that is requires is 2 mains outlets!

Sax and the city were a pleasure to have at our wedding reception. The team were very responsive and communicative before the wedding and very accommodating when on the day things didn’t run exactly to plan / timings. Moreover, very talented ! And great music. Including for a combination of songs from the list provided and Bollywood / french music. Would not hesitate to recommend!

Sax and the City were amazing. I had heard them previously at a friend’s wedding and knew they were the perfect vibe for our own. They were minimal fuss, provided excellent lighting and also audio equipment for our speeches, and smashed the playlist using as their inspiration just a handful of songs we gave them. Despite only providing our first dance the day before the party, the sax overlay into that song was absolutely seamless and timed to perfection. Would thoroughly recommend. Not only are you both talented musicians, but lovely people who made it very easy to deliver our vision. Thanks a million for keeping our dance floor packed all night long

The DJ and Sax were great at playing music they know but wasn't able to deliver on a versatile playlist. The requested playlist varied from African, Indian, Latino, Pop, Rock etc. and I had asked if they would be able to accommodate this before booking, of which I was assured they would. However it was not DJing but rather just playing the songs from start to finish, which we could have done on a Spotify playlist. In so many instances the saxophonist was out of tune. As said early, the DJ and Sax were great on songs they knew I wish I had known this from the start, it would have helped me make a more informed decision and set my expectations.

Can't recommend Sax & the City enough! We hired them for our event and they were amazing! The music was fantastic and was such a smooth process getting everything arranged! will 110% be booking again in the future :)

Sax and The City were absolutely amazing. They were easily contacted and very helpful with all of our questions! Our guests loved the music and having the saxophone too was excellent! I would definitely recommend these two and would book them again!

Alex was absolutely fantastic from the initial conversation through to the wedding day. Alex went above and beyond to cater for our needs and far exceeded our expectations. Alex’s personality and love for what he does shone through, he is great with guests and all round top guy. Would highly recommend to anyone.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

As a DJ/Sax duo we love nothing more than getting the dancefloor moving! Clients credit us for playing "all the bangers" and frequently mention how we take pride in our professionalism; arriving well in time, all the time.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Although newly formed, venues played as individuals have ranged from Park Chinois, Mayfair to The Barbican Music Hall.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Everything from Stevie Wonder to Daft Punk

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Hard to say, but probably the Etihad Stadium, Manchester!

Do you have different line-up options?

Of course! We're also available as two separate acts: solo sax with backing tracks or solo DJ.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If timings change slightly in the run up to the event, just get in touch (ideally a week beforehand) and we will be happy to accommodate any adjustments that are possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Music is none stop once we get setup, keeping the dancefloor moving the whole time!

How much time do you need to set up?

Set up time depends on parking and access to power supplies. The usual set up time is between 25 to 45 minutes and will be completed with plenty of time before the set.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes we can! Alex's wireless microphone allows him to roam around any venue up to 20 metres away from his receiver.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Requests are very much welcome, and our set-lists are tailored to each individual client's preferences (unlike other acts that may use generic playlists). We do this to make sure the music is perfect for every event we play!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

All equipment needed is included in our quote, from our top quality Bose PA system to public liability insurance.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Song requests are always welcome, however, tracks may need to be sourced/created in advance so plenty of notice is needed!
