Sarah Hayashi, soprano, has sung roles including Fire, Princess, and the Nightingale in Maurice Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortileges, Belinda in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Miss Ellen in Leo Delibes’s Lakmé, Euridice in Jacques Offenbach's Orphée aux Enfers, Despina in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, and most recently Emmie in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. In 2008, Sarah won the Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts Award. She is also the recipient of the 2012 Evergreen House Foundation Scholarship. She was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lamda music honor society in 2013. In 2015, she was a winner of the Royal College of Music’s Concerto Competition and a finalist of the London Handel Singing Competition. Her baroque chamber group, the Chaconne Ensemble, won the Early Music Competition at the RCM in the summer of 2015. Sarah completed her four-year studies at the Peabody Conservatory receiving both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance. She has just completed a Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music in London where she studied with Janis Kelly, and was supported by a Charles Branchini Award and the Josephine Baker Trust. This fall, Sarah will attend the Wales International Academy of Voice under the tutelage of Dennis O’Neill.
