Santi Lowe

Born on New Year’s Eve, 1997, in Nottingham, UK, Santiago has completed his Music degree in interpretation in Baroque Cello at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, with José Manuel Hernández as his teacher, Santiago is currently studying baroque cello (MA) at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he receives coaching by Jonathan Manson. Santiago is actively member of Lowe Ensemble and is involved in other music projects including chamber music groups, soloist performances and orchestra projects. Santiago currently is a cello teacher at SWS School of Music and has been a cello teacher at the Monteverdi Conservatory and at "La fábrica de música" from 2021 to March 2023. He has also worked for more than 2 years as the principal cellist of the Early Music group 'Ars Combinatoria', based in Galicia, Spain. With them, he has recorded the J. S. Bach Passion according to St. John, as well as premiered new compositions by composers of international renown, such as Carlos Satué and Félix Ibarrondo. He has attended numerous editions of the Early Music courses at the University of Salamanca, with Professors Hiro Kurosaki, Itxiar Atutxa, Pedro Gandía and Andoni Mercero, amongst others. He has also received cello masterclasses from Suzana Stefanovic and Aldo Mata. Santiago has made several music recordings and soundtracks like "La entrega". He has also worked with Nico Casal, composer, with whom he has performed in several concerts. Santiago has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Arts Scholarship for 2024/25. Santiago currently plays on a Lockey Hill cello, generously loaned by the Royal Academy of Music, as well as a bow crafted by Luis Emilio Rodriguez from the Calleva collection.
