Sam Tempest

Sam is a passionate and versatile drummer and percussionist, with over ten years' experience performing with multiple ensembles and recording for various artists. Sam also tutors privately for the drums at his home studio based in Leeds. Since his early teens, Sam knew he had a passion for the drums and live performance. After watching online drum covers of some of his favourite songs (at the time), which included Korn, System Of A Down and Slipknot, he asked his parents for a drum kit for Christmas. Sam began to take drum lessons with tutor Dave Benmore (The Itch), and soon after joined his first band in Lancashire. Within two or three years, Sam had achieved Rockschool Grade 6, and was working with four different bands of multiple genres and performing across the North West. Later, Sam studied at Leeds Arts University, achieving a first class degree in Popular Music Performance under the tutorage of Jason Huxtable (maraca2, Los Angeles Philharmonic). His passion for music content creation began during lockdown whilst still studying at LAU, collating a series of drum covers and informative drum lessons for his online channels. Since graduating, Sam has performed nationally and internationally with wedding, session, party and original bands - notable performance venues include the Malostranska Beseda (Prague), Boomtown Festival and Solfest. Sam is confident with a wide variety of music genres which include, but are not limited to rock, pop, jazz and funk. Sam also runs his own tutoring business based in Leeds, which includes online sessions, and works as a freelance recording musician for original music projects. With extensive experience behind the kit and over two hundred and fifty genre-spanning songs gig-ready, Sam is a confident choice for your performance and recording needs.
