Sam began performing in 2004 in and around Leeds where he quickly gained a loyal following, playing regularly all over England but mainly in Yorkshire and the North. His debut album was released in 2009 and the first pressing sold out in less than a year. The debut album received outstanding reviews in the specialist and more mainstream music press in the UK and internationally including stunning praise from Vinatge Guitar Magazine (USA), Artrocker Magazine, Acoustic magazine and R2 magazine.
All his subsequent releases have been met with similar critical recognition and he has even received praise from National newspapers including the Guardian who awarded him "Pick of the Week" in their entertainment sections on two separate occasions.
Sam played at the internationally renowned South by Southwest music festival in Austin Texas in 2010 and cemented an already growing American fan-base. In 2011 he began getting airplay and praise from National BBC radio and has been played on BBC radio 6 on at least 9 occasions.
His most recent release "AnyRoad" (2014) has been his most critically acclaimed to date having received rave reviews from National prime time BBC radio 6 DJs Marc Riley and Gideon Coe as well as a very favourable mention in UNCUT magazine. In addition to this, "AnyRoad" will appear in the top 20 of the annually published Piccadilly Records end of year review chart booklet. This is a great honour as the booklet has a huge influence as a taste-making document here in the UK and internationally.
