About Ruth

Singer with experience performing in across UK and internationally. Repertoire of multiple genres from 1960s-current
Singer
Perth

I'm a singer based in Central Scotland, with own transport and equipment. I currently work solo and as part of numerous bands and original acts. I have a BA Hons in Music and before the pandemic, I performed on overseas contracts in Spain, France and the Middle East. In 2020, my career in music changed completely. I was singing in production shows and party bands overseas when the pandemic hit. Upon arrival back to Scotland, I realised that it was unlikely I'd find full-time singing work unless I got it myself, as a freelancer. It took a while to break into the freelance scene. Throughout the journey I lost hope, gained hope, even got a Master's in MSc Digital Media. During my studies, I finally found my way back into the local music scene and earned money as a freelance singer in both original and cover bands, as well as theatre productions. 2022 was so busy that it kinda made up for the complete absence of singing work throughout 2020-2021. Notable performances in 2022 included Lancaster Music Festival, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Solfest, Doune the Rabbit Hole, Lindisfarne Festival (with Supa and Da Kryptonites), The Cube, Princes Theatre and various theatres in England (Club 80s Live), as well as countless corporate/wedding/function gigs across Scotland and northern England (with multiple bands). I enjoy performing solo, as it gives me more control and flexibility over the songs I sing. Saying that, all gigs will be catered to the style of your choosing - whether that's to get people singing and dancing along to party classics or some chilled jazz, rnb to enjoy in the background. Get in touch so we can discuss your event, and I can organise a set list to suit.

I saw Ruth in Majorca at Lagotel October 2018, despite the hotel being low in numbers due to the end of the season, Ruth absolutely smashed the night. She involved the audience in all of her songs and choices singing a variety of different songs. An excellent voice and an even nicer person, make sure you get the chance to go see Ruth if she is performing nearby you won’t be disappointed. Keep up the good work Ruth hope to see you again sometime

Acting on behalf of an entertainments business based in Mallorca, we decided to hire Alexis-Vocalist for a set earlier this year. As a business we provide entertainment in 4* hotels to guests of all ages/backgrounds from all over the world. After many strong recommendations from others, we had a very high expectation of what to expect from this performer. Not only did Alexis-Vocalist meet our expectations but she most certainly ended up exceeding them too. She was both professional and connected in a very impressive manner with the audience. The crowd loved her so much that we were left with the easy decision to then offer her a permanent fortnightly fixture at this specific hotel, on a fortnightly basis. Fortunately for us, she was able to accepted the proposal. We hope to have her back next year to then continue her services in all of our hotels. She certainly comes highly recommended. Thanks again for your services in 2018.

Customer questions

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just keep me in the loop and we'll work it out.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. I can create a playlist for this at no extra cost. Just let me know what kind of music you require. If you would like a host/DJ service via my PA after the final set and before the venue closes, this shall cost an additional £100.

How much time do you need to set up?

I prefer to arrive for soundcheck no later than one hour before the performance start time. As soon as the PA is set up, I usually put on a playlist to create some atmosphere in the run up to the performance.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My repertoire covers many genres and styles, suited to a wide range of environments. Whether you want beautiful background music or a dance party, I can deliver. Set lists are crafted from countless performances and their success. We can discuss your event in more detail to find what works best for you.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If a song isn't included in my song list, please ask. Due to the number of wedding bands I work with and an ever-growing list of songs, there is a chance I'll know it. If I don't know it, I'll be happy to learn one special request for free. Additional requests will be charged at £15 each for rehearsal time and backing track cost.
