About Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

The award-winning Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is the UK's oldest surviving professional symphony orchestra.
Liverpool

The award-winning Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is the UK's oldest surviving professional symphony orchestra and has been at the heart of Liverpool’s cultural life since 1840. The Orchestra gives approximately 70 concerts each season (September – June) in its home, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as well as concerts in venues across the city, including Liverpool’s two cathedrals. Our Chief Conductor, Vasily Petrenko, joined us in 2006. Born in 1976, he is recognised as one of the exceptional musicians of his generation. The Orchestra tours regularly throughout the UK and world-wide and has an extensive discography featuring many critically acclaimed recordings. Our Chamber Music Series presents the world’s finest quartets, vocalists and recital artists in the beautiful setting of St. George’s Hall Concert Room. The Family Concerts offer children aged 4-10 and their families the opportunity to experience orchestral music in a fun and interactive setting.
