Roy Pfeffer

Roy Pfeffer is a London-based session drummer, band leader, and producer, renowned for his versatility and dynamic performances. With classical training as his foundation, he has performed extensively, touring internationally, and supporting acclaimed artists such as Alanis Morissette and Janelle Monáe. Deeply influenced by the vibrant sounds of New Orleans, Roy infuses his music with authentic NOLA flavors. He has studied with master drummers Herlin Riley (Wynton Marsalis, Ahmad Jamal), Joey Peebles (Trombone Shorty), and Spyboy Honey of the Creole Wild West Tribe. His dedication to the craft has led him to share the stage with esteemed legends like Cha Wa, Rebirth Brass Band, and Zigaboo Modeliste (the Meters), as well as playing the Congo Square Stage at the renowned New Orleans Jazz Fest. As a band leader, Roy leads The Big Smoke Family, a celebrated New Orleans funk band that headlines festivals and sells out shows at prestigious venues like Ronnie Scott’s. Additionally, he leads the Roy Pfeffer Trio paying homage to jazz luminaries such as Idris Muhammad, Grant Green, and Cannonball Adderley, captivating audiences with their soulful interpretations and maintaining long-running residencies across London.
