Dorset “Supergroup”* Route 66, Amie, Matt, Steve and Iain bring varied musical ingredients together and form a recipe that keeps you enthralled and dancing. After an acclaimed set at New Forest Folk Festival 2022, Route 66 announced their arrival on the scene as purveyors of Folk, Roots, Country and Americana with a distinctly British twist. Singer/songwriters Amie Knight and Matt Griffiths combine great harmonies on each others’ songs: BBC Introducing rising star and BCMA nominee Amie Knight brings the country vibe with songs about relationships and boys and stuff. Matt Griffiths writes about the important things like pirates. They are accompanied on backing vocals and fiddle by Steve Faulkner, who is also known for jumping around a lot. Drums/Cajon and percussion expert Iain Mathieson holds the musical exuberance in rhythmic check. Route 66 are a very talented multi genre group of four incredibly talented musicians. They are also multi instrumental playing guitars, mandolin, violin, cajon and full drum kit. Crowds are always amazed at their dynamic performances and are often pleasantly surprised to find that three of them share the vocals. Talking of vocals, they're second to none, with three very powerful vocalists including Dorsets Queen of country music, Amie Knight. I had no hesitation in booking them for a festival I organise for the past two years, where the crowd loved them on both occasions. I can't see enough of these guys!

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Amie. Pure and simple. Our Country princess is a rising star on the British Country scene, and once you hear her you'll understand why. Besides our glamorous leading lady, the whole band always give a great show wherever we play: our varied set list; the banter between songs; the performance energy; Matt's inventive song mash-ups; and much more.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

New Forest Folk Festival, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Wimborne Minster Folk Festival, Marnhull Fest, Potato Pants Festival, Seafood & Sounds Festival, VDub at the Pub, Dorset County Show, Lighthouse Poole, The Belvedere, The Ship Inn, The Angel Poole, The Foundry, The Old Thatch, The Green Man, Bechcomber, The Wheatsheaf, Central Bar, Post Bournemouth...

Do you have different line-up options?

We are a very versatile band. We can offer line-up variations depending on your requirements. Duo, trio and 4 piece band options are possible by mixing our available talents: Male Vocal/Guitar, Female Vocal/Guitar, Male Vocal/Fiddle, Cajon/Percussion or Drums.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We will work with you to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If you need to make changes to your programme, let us know as soon as you can and we will try our best to accommodate.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

We welcome your input into your event's music via playlists or similar. However, to avoid unexpected compatibility or streaming issues, please contact us in good time before your event to ensure that we can play your playlist though our equipment.

How much time do you need to set up?

The full band experience with drums, lights and PA usually takes 1.5 hours to set up and 30-60 minutes to pack down. Smaller iterations of the line-up can usually be set up within an hour. If the venue has PA and engineer already in, we can be ready to roll in under 15 minutes.

Can you roam around while you perform?

If there's space and suitable access from the stage/performance area, try and stop us! With the exception of Iain our drummer/percussionist of course. His gear is less mobile than the rest of the band's.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Matt is an expert at gauging what the next song or three should be. That said, we welcome requests and will be happy to include them at appropriate times in our set. all we ask is to not leave requests until after we've finished.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

PA, Lighting and where available, Engineer is included in the price. Prior to confirming the booking, we'll liaise to establish power requirements.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Given sufficient notice, we will try to accommodate any reasonable request. We do however, retain the right to apply our own treatment.
