About Rosie

Versatile flute player - concerts, weddings, events, musical theatre, pop music, sessions.

Verified profile

I'm a flute player based in London and have performed at many venues in the city including concert halls (Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Union Chapel, Round House), top hotels (The Dorchester, Savoy), museums (V&A and British Museum), and I even used to perform regularly as a minstrel at London's Medieval Banquet. I am lucky to travel the world as a guest musician for Cunard and P&O cruise liners. Alongside classical music, musical theatre, recordings for TV and theatre, weddings and functions, I have also been in a pop-art orchestra! (The Irrepressibles - recorded on their debut album and toured in the UK and Europe). I studied Music at Southampton University and Flute at Trinity College of Music, London, graduating in 2007 with Distinction. Alongside freelance flute playing I also teach flute and woodwind at The Royal Ballet School and Papplewick School.

Rosie went the extra mile to provide a really special performance, helping to find another musician and making the whole process easy from start to finish. She was professional, friendly, communicative and flexible - and she played beautifully over a diverse repertoire. Couldn't be happier.

I never knew how powerful music could be until I heard Rosie play. Her flute touched my heart deeply. While I was staring at the love of my life, each song she played had a beautiful romantic message. Without her amazing talent, it wouldn't have meant as much. I am so grateful to her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Arul

Excellent. My guests were delighted with the Duo's performance. I very much appreciated their flexibility and responsiveness in the run up to my event, not least as I was being very disorganised myself. Absolutely lovely, and I would most definitely book them again.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Clients usually say how well I make sure that I create the atmosphere they wanted - in both style of music and volume. I'm also really friendly (at least I try to be!) and flexible and will give time beforehand to chat if need be about song choices or logistics.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed on big stages like Liverpool's Echo Arena and London's Royal Festival Hall, at gorgeous wedding venues like Hampton Court House, Hedsor House, Fairmont Hotel. Also top London hotels The Dorchester and The Savoy, and have even performed outside for weddings at Battersea Bandstand and in Sherwood Forest!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Flute players like James Galway and William Bennett.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Hmm.... maybe for Meltdown Festival with Marc Almond, I played flute and saxophone ... and a vintage 1960s Combo Organ! However, I love all my gigs, small and bigger profile, and I totally love playing for events and weddings to add a special atmosphere to people's special occasion.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I always try my best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let me know. If timings change on the day just let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate that.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I usually offer this for free just let me know if you require it.

How much time do you need to set up?

Usually I need 45 mins-1 hour for setting up instruments and any sound equipment and storing bags/moving cars after unloading. If I'm playing acoustic probably only need max 30 mins but an hour is always great if possible so I can be ready for you and your guests in good time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes absolutely, and please also ask if you have any special requests that aren't on my song list. I always love to help make your event as unique and personal as possible for your event, and am definitely happy to chat through to make sure it's what you want.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, absolutely. I bring my own instrument and often play acoustically. If needed I can also bring amplification or will liaise with the venue/event to arrange amplification if it's needed.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, if there are some specific songs you'd like I am so happy to arrange this - most songs are possible!
