Rónán O'deoráin

Rónán O'deoráin is a classical guitarist and songwriter originally from Ireland, now based in Glasgow, Scotland. Influenced by baroque and chamber music, as well as early twentieth century popular forms, O'deoráin began his career as a street performer and maintains the classical guitar repertoire need not be a stuffy and exclusive affair, and that there is life in the guitarist-singer-songwriter paradigm yet. Combining a DIY aesthetic with a practised reverence for the works of Tarréga, Barrios, Villa-Lobos and others, O'deoráin reminds us that the founders of modern guitaristry were journeymen, whose music was rooted in their understanding of time and place. As an uprooted Irish person, O'deoráin recontextualises classical works somewhere at the intersection between the Latin world and the Celtic, the Nineteenth Century and the Twenty First. Having obtained an MA from The University of the West of Scotland, O'deoráin has performed throughout the UK, Ireland and the United States. A producer and studio engineer in his own right, he released his EP 'spilled wine' to acclaim and is currently working on a suite of compositions in the Irish language. Additionally, O'deoráin is an experienced composer, educator, sound engineer and arranger. He is happy to prepare a unique arrangement of your favourite tune (whether that be a contemporary/ oldie, pop, rock or film score), to ensure the chillest of good vibes at your special occasion. O'deoráin travels light and requires only an armless chair for more intimate events. For larger venues a PA system, if not provided, may be able to be arranged at cost.
