Currently a MMus Ethnomusicology student at SOAS, I am a keen Tubist, Gamelan player and Klezmer musician. Hobbies include gardening, cycling and trekking. Happy to be contacted for anything musical or pertaining to my interests/profile. I completed my three-year undergraduate MusB (Hons) Music degree at the University of Manchester with a First Class in 2019. I studied Tuba with Ewan Easton MBE, Sundanese Gamelan with Dr. Robert Szymanek and Klezmer with Dr. Richard Fay and Ros Hawley. Performing highlights during my time at Manchester includes: - Manchester University Wind Orchestra: Principal Tuba; Low Brass Section leader; opportunity to perform a solo (Rodney Newton's 'Capriccio'; platinum awards at NCBF regionals and finals. - University of Manchester Brass Band: primarily principal BBb Bass however have also held Eb Bass positions; participation in the UniBrass competition Trophy section; yearly band tours. - Tubist with the Manchester University Music Society (MUMS) Symphony Orchestra. - Involved with MUMS Outreach community and teaching scheme. - Brass Quintet playing - Community brass banding around Manchester - Part of The 'Levvy Metal' Band... a community brass-wind ensemble performing Balkan and Balkan-inspired music. - Several Klezmer performances at the Manchester Jewish Museum and University area. - Part of the Sundanese Gamelan group 'Gamelan Adumanis'. I grew up in Singapore, where I lived for most of my childhood before embarking to Manchester for undergraduate studies. In Singapore, I am part of 'Gamelan Asmarandana' with whom I play Central Javanese Gamelan at a range of community and local events. I also have experience running Central Javanese Gamelan workshops.
