About Roc

Baroque Violist
London

Roc Fargas i Castells, originally from Barcelona, is a first year MA student in Historical Performance and second study conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. Roc studied the sixth form as a viola specialist at Wells Cathedral School and then moved to The University of Cambridge, Selwyn College, to read music. In his second year at Cambridge, he joined the Collegium Musicum of the University, and discovered the fascinating world of Historical Performance. Roc feels a strong attachment to orchestral music and this is why he hopes to become a conductor in the future. Not only is he interested in finding new ways to perform early repertoire which still is nowadays threatened by twentieth-century traditions, but also wishes to apply Historical Performance to later repertoire and even to contemporary music.
