My name is Robin and I have been a freelance cellist and vocalist for 15 years. Based in Brighton, I have performed across the U.K. and internationally. A cellist since the age of 6, I was classically trained and studied Music at the University of Sussex. Since then I have branched out into pop, folk and improvisatory genres. I am a versatile performer and an experienced session musician. I have played at weddings, parties, pubs and even life drawing classes! A member of chamber-pop duo Bee & Jackrabbit and ambient synth trio Night House, I can offer modern group performances as well as classical and folk solo sets for events and weddings. I can also record bespoke string arrangements of popular favourites for you to play at your wedding, perfect for background music or walking down the aisle! Robin is a brilliant cellist. She played at my wedding in september 2022. I sound her to be professional, creative, communicative with a fantastic can do attitude. She learnt a unique piece for our wedding and played it flawlessly. She played a range of other pieces flawlessly with many of my guests complimenting her skill. I would highly recommend Robin for your event.

Robin is one of those musicians it's kinda impossible to oversell. Every time I use them for a session I hyperbolically talk them up and then they out-perform that! If you've ever liked the idea of real strings on your song, but have no idea where to start, or think it would be unaffordable, they are the answer. 4 hours, with no prep and they'll bosh a full string arrangement out that sounds like it was done at Abbey Road.

A bespoke recording of a song of your choice for you play at your event, which I will arrange for a cello/string ensemble and record at a studio. Think the Bridgerton soundtrack! What do your clients love most about your performances?

They love my versatility and uniqueness! I always push the boundaries of what the cello can offer.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed in countless venues around the UK as well as Europe! Highlights include Brighton Pavilion and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I love Yo-Yo Ma, Jacqueline du Pré, Ayanna Witter-Johnson and Sheku Kanneh-Mason.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Supporting The Wedding Present at Boiler Shop Newcastle was a huge highlight, as was recording in the studio with award winning composer Paul Englishby.

Do you have different line-up options?

All prices are for solo cello. If you’d like to book one of my bands, please do get in touch.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I understand that plans can change and I always try my best to be flexible. If anything changes slightly just let me know as soon as you can.

How much time do you need to set up?

As my performances are acoustic I can usually set up in under 30 minutes.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I’m definitely happy to chat through the setlist, as well as to add up to two requests.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

All I’ll need from you is a chair!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can learn up to two specific pieces for your event.
