I have 10 years of experience playing bagpipes at events and within pipe bands all over the world from Scotland to Switzerland. I am based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders but am willing to travel anywhere. Some notable performances of mine include playing with Scottish Borders Pipe Band in 2018 where we lifted the Scottish Championship title in Grade 3b. I have also toured with California and District Pipe Band and Ullapool Pipe Band. With the former we played at Festival de Ortigueira in Spain to a crowd of around 10,000 people. I also have a vast experience of playing at weddings, corporate events and Burns Suppers and know the logistics that these entail which ensures that my clients are at ease and don't need to worry about what I am doing. As well as a piper I also sing, mainly Scottish music and I also recite Tam O' Shanter.

Robert is a real talent on the pipes and we asked him to pipe at our wedding after hearing him perform at several events including Weddings, Burns Suppers, Concerts and Community Events, where he has not only piped, but has sung, played guitar, and acted out poetry recitals. When we liaised with Robert he asked us what we would like and also suggested how he could enhance the occasion. At the wedding, he piped my wife into the church, both of us out of the church, played for our guests outside the church after the ceremony, and at the reception. We and our guests thoroughly enjoyed his confident and polished performances, and also his presence as he interacted so well with our guests. We would have no hesitation in recommending Robert for whatever your event is as he is professional, flexible and adaptable.

Robert played the bagpipes for our Daughter’s Wedding. He was super. His style, flexibility, and versatility in the music he played was fantastic. He piped our Guests into the ceremony, during the ceremony and again after the ceremony, then during the reception. He was very sensitive to the occasion and played the bagpipes with confidence and wonderful musicality. We have heard Robert play over a few years and have recommended him on several occasions and would have no hesitation to recommend him again.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I can tailor my performances to suit the event. I can be however formal or informal you like which means you can be sure that your event will go as smoothly as possible.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed in many different venues all around the world. From small, intimate Burns Suppers in bars to performing in Galicia in front of a huge crowd of people on the main stage of a music festival.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

I take influence from many pipers and pipe bands, from the traditional style of bagpipes, right though to modern day pipers, and even 'Pipe Band Pop' from bands like the Red Hot Chilli Pipers who I've been lucky enough to appear on stage with at a local concert.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I think that every gig I've done is as important as each the rest, whether it be a small birthday party, a huge wedding or a massive televised performance, I treat every gig with the same respect and give the best service I can.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Just let me know and I'll check my diary.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

No, due to the nature of my gigs this is not something I offer.

How much time do you need to set up?

I require 15 mins for tuning - this is not included in the time that I charge for. ie. If you hire me from 1.30, I'll be there at 1.15 to tune up and you won't be charged for this time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

You can! And if you have any requests, feel free to ask and I'll do my best.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, me and my pipes... Trust me, they don't need amplified!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can! Just ask and I'll see what I can do.
