Robbie Kessell

Drumming was my first passion. I began lessons at 10 years old, working my way through the Trinity Guildhall drum grades until I achieved Grade 8 at the age of 16. Since then, I have attended BIMM (Bristol Institute of Modern Music) and earned a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Musicianship. The course taught me a lot about not just drumming, but music in general. The wealth of knowledge I attained from the lecturers and other music students shines through in my playing, recording and understanding of music. During my time spent taking lessons, I practiced constantly, whether it be individually practicing rudiments and grade pieces, playing along to music, or recording drum covers. I have a deep understanding of many different styles and can play a diverse range of genres. I have gained lots of experience in many different avenues of drumming, including band work with original bands, live and studio session work with bands, remote session work with songwriters and producers, private teaching, studio recording and function work with live bands. I have recorded tracks in the studio with Jimm Barr (Portishead), Marco Migliari (Real World Studios) and have played with bands all over the country, gaining experience and knowledge along the way.
