Battle

Having played all over the world (both as a solo artist and as a member of production company 'Night Owl Shows'), and even recorded with legends of the Soul genre like Charles Hodges (Al Green), Rob Picazo is one of the UK's finest Rhythm & Blues artists. Rob’s music travels the map of US Soul, R&B and Gospel, drawing inspiration from the sounds of Chicago, New Orleans and, of course, Memphis in the 60s and 70s, as his caramel vocals sit atop a stew of boiling guitars, simmering organ, soulful horns and funky rhythms. His passionate original compositions and performances of Soul classics have endeared him to the genre's faithful fanbase and make every gig a night to remember!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Unique, authentic and soulful performances tailored to each event.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed in venues all over the world, from intimate bars (like the Green Note in Camden) to big stages like Underbelly Southbank and those at the Edinburgh, Brighton and Adelaide Fringe Festivals.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

The classic Soul, Blues and Rock & Roll of the past - Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Solomon Burke and many more.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I have performed yearly at the Edinburgh, Brighton and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. In Edinburgh, I would perform 4 shows a day every day throughout the month of August with no rest.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I will always do my best to be flexible to help ensure your date runs smoothly. If timings change slightly, just let me know. Substantial changes (e.g. hours or days) must be discussed with some time, to ensure there is no clash with other potential bookings.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Of course, this is a popular request which makes for a more comfortable and exciting environment before and in between sets.

How much time do you need to set up?

For a solo performance, I require a maximum of 45 minutes to set up. As soon as the PA is set up, I can provide the playlist whilst I set up the last of the equipment.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

My set list is crafted with experience and consideration, to make sure that your event flows as smoothly as possible, however, I'm always keen to discuss the set list in advance and ensure that it works for you.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I'll bring everything necessary.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

My overall price includes a choice of 3 unique songs, however, I'd be happy to include a few more for an additional fee of £30 (this accounts for the learning and rehearsal time required to learn 3-4 more songs.
