Rob Fay was born in Princeton, New Jersey and began playing the trumpet at age 8. While attending Vanderbilt University he studied trumpet under the tutelage of Allan Cox and jazz under Billy Adair, Dr. Ryan Middagh, and Grammy Award winning saxophonist Jeff Coffin. He has also completed numerous masterclasses which have included Mark Gould, Ray Mase, Phil Smith, Craig Morris, Rashawn Ross, and David Leibman. During his time at Vanderbilt he served as the President of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity as well as student liaison to the Board of Directors of the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, which he performed with as well. He was a featured soloist with the Spirit of Gold Marching Band and also won the Blair School of Music's Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition in 2016. He recently earned his degree in Musical Arts/Education in April of 2016 and spent this past summer touring the U.S. as a lead trumpet with The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
