A multi-disciplinary musician, River Edis-Smith has performed as a violinist in ensembles such as the Hallé Youth Orchestra and Amadeus Orchestra. He has extensive experience leading violin sections in orchestras and playing in smaller ensembles, such as pit bands in musical theatre and chamber ensembles that support choral works. River was a violinist with The Caprice Quartet in Surrey between 2018-2021. The Quartet performed at a range of corporate events, shopping centres, weddings and educational events. Performances included a range of popular classical works, arrangements of popular music and tailor-made compositions. As a soloist – River enjoys performing contemporary works and showcasing them in unique visual ways. This includes collaborating with local artists, videographers and sound engineers to produce ear and eye-catching performances.

Customer questions

How much time do you need to set up?

For classical and pop acoustic setups I will arrive 30 minutes before performing to get comfortable ready to perform. PA setup for backing CD accompaniments will be 45 minutes before.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Absolutely! You can pick pieces of music from the set-list or some of your own. Do be aware that your own suggestions are dependant upon availability and unique arrangements will incur a small additional fee. This is done on a one to one basis but you will have a chance to listen to the arrangement before you commit.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I only use PA for a backing CD if you want popular songs performed with accompaniment. All classical performances are acoustic and I provide all equipment.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, I prefer performing classical music and I am happy to learn specific music dependent upon difficulty. If you would like me to arrange or provide accompaniment to a popular song, this will add to the quote. Provide the details and I'll provide the quote.
